I dont understand ?And at the same time being totally original. I have read many reviews stating that this effort from Lenny was not in the top ten, but I beg to differ! He is still got that same prince/sly stone/funkadelic/black murda/ fugi/curtis mayfield funk combination that I am used 2.
Lenny Kravitz- Lenny
While its not perfect, this album is great because it shows the return of Lenny to his full form. This album is a true classic. After one horrible album, and one mediocre funk album, he released this album and he returned to his Pop/Rock roots and it really bennefitted him. While first week sales werent nothing to brag about this time around, he at least made an album worth listening to. What really helped this album was the single "Again" which actually wasnt even on this album, it was a new track on his Greatest Hits album released the year before this album. But "Again" helped steer him away from that Funk music, and lead him back into that soft rock style that everyone loves him for. The biggest song off this album is obviously the fan favorite "Dig In" which pretty much just says "Live life to the fullest". But the other standout tracks are the soothing and mellow "Stillness Of Heart", which was cut from the same cloth as "Again". "Believe In Me", which almost has a mid tempo R&B feel to it, and "Battlefield Of Love" which is pretty much a typical Lenny track. But the best thing about this album is that it showed that Lenny returned to full form again, after an almost career ending blow. Its not a front to back classic, but its definetly worth your time if u like Lenny Kravitz.

Lenny.
At first listen many, many months ago, I was ready to say goodbye and never listen to this CD again. Some of the songs kinda blend together but songs like If I Could Fall In Love, Yesterday Is Gone (My Dear Kay) and Dig In revive you from total monotony, the latter mainly the strongest and most noticeable melody. I'm glad I didn't! Lenny actually has a bit to say unlike his rapper counterparts, although his lyrics, while mostly done by him aren't very amazing.
His CD 5 and Mama Said are still better in my eyes, but this CD isn't too bad.
72/100 points.
end note: all of the tracks are slower tunes or mid-tempos so you may get bored the first time through (like I did) but give it a chance, especially if you're a fan.
Lenny does it again!
Although Basptism was a very good album, it had many down parts. I actually bought this album after buying Baptism and I have to say that Lenny Kravitz has been making many changes. Lenny tried to sing soft ballads on there that just didn't work. I think that was my only complaint, the rest of the album was solid rock and roll.
This album, on the other hand, is well done. In some ways it's better than Baptism since there isn't one song on here that I don't like. My favorites would be, If I Could Fall in love and stillness of heart but the whole album is great. Lenny Kravitz has really made some good music and he remains one of my favorite rock musicians to this day.
I would prefer this album over Baptism.
100x Better than "Baptism"
LENNY has very cool rock ballads, especially 2 that really stand out are "If I Could Fall In Love" & "Stillness Of Heart. LENNY is a great album and has by far better music than his recent material. " I bought this CD just for that. But there is alot more to enjoy with "Believe In Me" and "You Were In My Heart" which has an excellent beat. Lenny Kravitz has an amazing smooth voice and it's just so much fun to listen. I enjoyed "LENNY" more than "Baptism" and "5" combined.
