Overlooked
Many people would just skip to EXTREME AGGRESSOR, citing this CD as not as good. After a great album like PLEASURE TO KILL its easy to over look this CD. Is it slower than PTK? Sure, but the goves are amazing and just as technical. Give it a listen, dont overlook it.

german thrash/speed metal at it's best
having simular styles in the early days as sodom, destruction, celtic frost, artlillery and the american kings slayer they take things astep further and with this release they realy step away from the pack and shine. these guys could make many othewr thrash bands look like poseurs easily learning from all band before them and around them they lead the wave of german thrashers from example this is how to do it's right.

Storming with menace...
Tighter and more complex than 'Pleasure to Kill', but retaining the same claustrophobic energy. Kreator's strongest collection of songs, and their second best album. The crisp production stifles some of the bludgeoning, Neanderthal extremity, but allows the rhythmic structure and the song-writing subtleties to shine. The galloping momentum of 'Storming with Menace' and 'One of Us' fit perfectly with the frenzied chaos of 'Behind the Mirror'. Vital extreme thrash.

A Thrash Triumph!
I'm not one of those whom found Pleasure to Kill to be Kreator's best: give me Endless Pain, Extreme Aggression, and this cd WAY before that overly Slayer-influenced release. Knowing metalheads (as well as being one myself) I am betting I'll perturb a few with this review. Just my opinion.

Terrible Certainty seemed to trump the other three German thrash gods
output during that period (as good as those bands were). The excellent production just seemed to push this album way out in front of Pleasure. . . which is interesting, because their debut, Endless. . . was recorded in a very raw style and overall might be their best.

I guess I should write that Terrible Certainty is produced well. . . in the "sick" way. At times disturbingly vicious as well as reSOUNDingly negative (in the "good" way), I would wholeheartedly reccomend this to anyone looking for a prime influence on future Thrash, Black, and Death metal releases.
My only real complaint is about something so commom in early-to-mid '80's, semi-undergound thrash that I probably shouldn't complain about it anymore: the guitar solos. The lead guitar playing on this album is only a slight notch above Euronymous, which is saying very little (as most lead guitarists out there already know). But as far as terrific songwriting, proto-Black shriek vocals, and general intensity do NOT pas this up. This ain't no "hair metal", boys!.

Thrash Essential !
their first few albums were crude, but showed a great technical skill and a flair for writing some pretty cool riffs. Kreator's early beginnings showed the band as a reckless musical unit, inspired by dark groups like Venom and Mercyful Fate, and heavy fast rock acts like Motorhead. well, one listen to Terrible Certainty and it becomes perfectly clear why this band has earned it's place in the pantheon of classic thrash! this album is full of non-stop blistering songs that attack the listener with calculated speed and plenty of whiplash tempo changes. the vocals sound fierce and fit the flow of the speed perfectly. the band sounds tighter than ever before and the production is great! the guitar solos are still kind of raw and don't always add the kind of depth and melodic drama that most of their American contemporaries would pull off; but the Terrible Certainty solos sound a little bit better than on past albums. one thing i have also always loved about this album is the creepy cover art, showing two rows of skeletal religious figures along a bridge that leads to a towering demon figure with glaring eyes. awesome concept and this cover was the main reason why i bought this album in the first place (well. . . it was a cassette tape when i first bought this back in the day). this was actually the first Kreator album i ever bought and it remains my favorite to this day. a totally essential and monumentally inspiring thrash album of very high calibur!.
