Not very good compared to their old stuff.

The whole album just feels like it was rushed as the riffs are forgettable and there's rarely any emotion in the songs. I love kutless and I was excited for this album but its short and weak.
"Hearts of the innocent" had interesting riffs and almost all the rock songs were great. Here it just sounds uninspired and watered down.
There are some decent songs like "The Disease & The Cure" "The Rescue" and "The Feeling" but even those aren't very good compared to their older stuff. The rest just sounds extremely rushed and forgettable.

I don't know why kutless has so many worship songs on their cd. It just seems like their stuck in the middle and don't have time to put a lot of work in either genre.

Quit Teasing Already!!!!
I enjoy the lyrical approach to Christianity that the band takes. I have been a Kutless fan now since Sea of Faces. I also enjoy the fact that they have made some effort to blend in the Linkin Park sound with a more melodic base, without appology.

Since Sea of Faces, the band has shown signs of growing into a more melodic rock band and their lyrics have continued to mature in the process. To Know That You're Alive continues that growth. In that respect, this album should be considered their best. Of course, if you prefer their debut album due to the stronger rapp-rock tendencies, then you will not be all that impressed with this album either.

For TKTYA, the band expands their sound slightly by recording with an orchestra in London. It adds a very strong texture to their sound without overwhelming or distracting from the music or the message. It is my hope that this trend continues.

The band has always written songs that are or feel very short. That trend continues with this album.

This album aggravates me in two ways. First, I enjoy this album every time I play it. However, other than the additional layering created with the orchestra, I can not point at precisely why I feel that way. I believe that indicates a bit of "homogenation" from song to song. The music has a very consistent feel to it from begining to end. Normally, when I hear that, I know that I will become bored with the album. That is not happening here. Perhaps that is a true indication of how well the songs are written and performed. It is probably a good indicator of this in that I am not moved to necessarily point out any given song as being the "best" or "worst". They are all very consistent, all very good, from the opening rocker to the closing balads.

Second, and this holds true for both TKTYA and Heart of the Innocent, you get the sense that the band can play their instruments fairly well. However, they continue to steer clear of any soloing. With most of these songs clocking in at around 3 minutes in length, they could easily afford instrumental breaks in nearly every song. In a couple of songs on this album, there is a tease at it (more so than in previous albums), but then they back off. Oh well. . . . maybe someday.

In general, I recommend this album. Kutless continues to deliver the goods as far as rock/post-grunge Christian rock is concerned and are as good as any of their secular counterparts (Linkin Park included)! All this while not having to wade through the secular garbage that comes with some of the other more notable groups (Tool, Fuel, etc. ). You will feel good after every pass through this album, even if they only tease you with the guitars. . . Kutless continues to deliver!.

Truly Rocks with a positive Christ centered message
I wish Christian Rock was this good when I was a teenager but I am glad I have discovered this band now. This is a great album. I love how the album is put together and the order of the songs. It takes you on a spiritual roller coaster in a way that will reach many for Christ. Keep on rocking Kutless and never lose sight of the ministry. .

Not as good as their other albums.
I loved their other stuff and not so much this album. Compared to their previous works, not nearly as good.

I Want To Give It More Stars But I Can't
It kicks off with The Feeling which is just a song about rocking out. This album is not without its hits. Then it leads into what seems to be either an interlude after only 2 minutes, or an intro to the title track, which is a great song. The Disease and the Cure is also another great rock song. Then the album moves into the radio hit Complete which is a great power ballad. The Rescue is the last really good song on the album. Promise You falls way short of a good power ballad, maybe it would be a good song if he didn't always sing in D. Guiding Me Home is a mostly acoustic song which doesn't seem to get good until the end when there is only one minute left in the song. Overcoming Me is a mediocre rock song with an interesting use of synths in the beginning, bridge, and the breakdown. It almost works but the song just lacks something. I Do Not Belong is like Sea of Faces II. There is nothing wrong with that, it is a decent power ballad. Loud has very cheesy lyrics: "You can try to turn me down, but I was born to be this loud" It's got some good riffs, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the song. Dying to Become is almost epic, and I applaud Kutless for at least attempting it. You is a mediocre ballad. Kutless has all the elements to produce a great album they have the ability to write decent songs, both ballads and rock, but they have yet to put out an album that is original.
