More than just a 'Lil Ben Folds' The lyrics are smart, and the production isn't lacking either. Quite possibly the best CD I've purchased this year, Ben Kweller's "Sha sha" hasn't spent much time on the outside of my CD player since buying it a month and a half ago. Kweller flexes his songwriting muscle throughout this LP, but the brightest of the highlights are 'Commerce, TX' 'Wasted and Ready' and 'Falling'. The disc is driven by emotion without being whiny, which is very crucial as far as replay value is concerned. It's very similar to Ben Folds' newer stuff without being a carbon copy of it. In short, it's simply an excellent CD.
Great pick
Usually, it's someone I've never heard of. About once every two weeks, I waltz in Border's and pick out a CD. I've found some good artists that way (the White Stripes, Susan Tedeschi, etc. ) This, however, is one of the best I've picked up. I've gotten burned many times and was coming off of a bad pick (Sissel). I was very pleased with this selection. "Falling" is my fav cut on the album.
