Pure Rock
But I gave it another try and realized that was the appeal of this album; it is pure rock in all it grittiness. After my first listen-through, I'll admit I wasn't all that impressed; it lacked the polish of the other L7 albums I own (Bricks Are Heavy and The Beauty Process: Triple Platinum).

I really wish that this group could find mainstream success, because they certainly have the talent. But my guess is it won't happen because they won't cash in on their looks. You can tell that by looking at the covers, both front and back. These ladies don't want to turn you on, they want to rock you, and they do a VERY good job of doing it, IMHO.

Raw, Angry & Loud
One of the most powerful bands of the riot grrrl movement in its heyday, L7 delivers one furious anthem after another, including the classic "Shove. Smell the Magic is an album that is meant to be cranked loud, with a driving bass line, grinding guitars, and snarling vocals. " "American Society" is a defiant social commentary with a Ramones influence; "Fast and Frightening" is a punk homage to female toughness. A classic grunge album. .

Absolutely Great, True Rock and Roll
It is my second favorite L7 album (after Hungry For Stink). This album is one of my favorite albums ever recorded. Literally every song on this album is good, from "Shove" to the last song "American Society". If you are a rock fan, you must get this record. The girls of L7 know how to rock!!!.

The Best L7 Album
I really love this album it completely rocks and the production is just that little bit more raw than bricks are heavy. . and American Society is way better than Pretend We're Dead

My favorte tracks are, American Society, shove, packin' a rod, Deathwish and Fast and Frightning that being said there is not a bad track on the album thoes just stand out the album is pure punk rock with super dirty guitars that you would expect from L7 seriously there distortion rocks hard, this album is just full of aggression and the lyrics are also funny which is good as well. . .

I saw a few people mentioned Betty Blowtorch and like every one else i couldn't aggree more that band is/was so great in fact if you like this album or any L7 album just got buy Betty Blowtorch: Are You Man Enough? it's just that damn good. .

Great
It's hard, rough, tough and dirty- everything I want. I love "Smell the magic", it's my favorite L7 album. "Shove" is great, but it doesn't beat "Fast and Frightening", "Deathwish", "Packin' a Rod" and "American Society". All the other songs are great as well!

If you like loud music and crave some L7 related material, I recommend you Jennifer Finch's new band "the Shocker" which was formed in 2003, and their CD "Up Your Ass Tray". On this page you can download some of their songs (it's free AND legal): http://www. myspace. com/theshocker . You can also check out their website http://www. shockersite. com.
