Absolutely Amazing I know "Trouble" was a favorite, but give this a few years and I think we will see that these songs will hold just as strong. This is Ray's best album, in my opinion. Not many people know about Ray which is a shame, because he is in my opinion the best talent in the music industry today. My girlfriend and I went to see him in Philly earlier this year and fell in love at that show. My advice is to get a few Ray songs and you will see just what we all mean when we say is songs are timeless. . . The one thing we want to know about is more of the meating with Ray and Meg White. . . just what went on there. . . did they have a jam session where they played some music or was it just a cup of coffee and conversation?.
LLLOOOOVE this album!
Love this album. Ray, you are the best thing!! There's really nothing more to say. It's a shame Ray isn't more widely heard and appreciated. . because his music is simply awesome. .
Where has this guy been all my life!!!!
I was totally blown away! I love Joe Purdy, but Ray's voice is definetely the better of the two. Ray was suggested by Amazon as a possible choice while I was looking for Joe Purdy cd's. He reminds me of a cross between Woody Guthrie, Van Morrison and Joe Cocker!!!!!! Go figure. Check him out just to verify that for yourself! While I was trying to decide if I wanted to purchase this cd, my husband passed the library doors and poked his head in to ask who I was listening to. Very unusual for him to notice the music. I asked why and he said, "get it"! He is a big fan of Joe Cocker and Van Morrison both, so that makes sense. I spent the better part of August entertaining guests on our screened in deck with this cd playing. Everyone seems to be as impressed as I am. Good steaks and BB-Q and wine with Ray playing for us in the background. It doesn't get much better than this! Don't know where he's from or where he's going, but he fits right in with our easy going, grass roots, Kansas life style! I feel safe in saying you will love this cd as much as I do.
The best so far
This is even better than his two previous albums; all the songs are worthy of download, but Let It be Me, Sarah and A Falling Through are my personal favorites. Ray LaMontagne is nowhere near as well known as he deserves to be; you could classify him as soft rock, folk or blues and he'd measure up to more famous performers such as John Meyer, Bruce Springfield or James Taylor. The presentation stikes a particularly good balance. .
I love Ray LaMontagne's voice!
Love it. His voice is my favorite, but his lyrics and music are so real and insightful.
