you will not be disappointed in any cd he has out. superb! this man can play a guitar and sing as well not to mention he is from louisiana.

This is great music
Everyone that works with Landreth on this album also provided stellar performances. Wow, great cd and great music.
Landreth has done it again.

Just another voice in the chorus for this fabulous album....
All the two of them have been doing is write great songs while producing some of the greatest guitar work on the planet for decades. Sonny Landreth is the Cajun Richard Thompson. Every time they put out a new album everyone says "THIS is the one that will finally bring him fame and fortune!" "THIS is the album that nobody can ignore!"

Every time Sonny puts out a new album I hope that these people are right; that he will finally get the widespread acclaim he deserves, but that's realy beside the point, isn't it? Sonny has too much integrity as an artist to ever cater to the whims of the commercial music establishment for the sake of sales. That's one of the things that make his albums so good.

Suffice it to say that this is one of the best rockin' blues albums you will ever hear. People who know music will be listening to this album long after Madonna and Britney have become footnotes in pop culture histories. I won't go into descriptions of each of the cuts, nor will I waste time telling you how much Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, and the other guests add to this album. It is, simply put, a great album. There isn't a weak song on it anywhere. It melds rock, Cajun, and blues music in Sonny's inimitable way. Outstanding.

I'd also like to add a note about Dave Ranson's bass playing. This guy is really something else. Check him out particularly on "When I Still Had You. ".

The Wolds Longest Reach
If you love New Orleans and the sound that only comes from south Lousiana this is what you want. How do you pull off this many guest artists on one record? I would have thought it couldn't be done. Not all of the songs are commercial or do I believe that they were written to be. This is pure art. Sometimes political, sometimes at breakneck speed, sometimes deeper than it is safe to swim in but always like a Thomas Hart Benton painting showing truth in this distorted world we live in. Sonny takes chances with the guitar that feel like ice skating on strings. The slick moves are so voice like that it speaks to your heart. The most color I have found in sound in many years. How do you top this? I don't know but I'm sure Sonny Landreth like Thomas Hart Benton doen't care. He will just paint a different picture and we will all stand in awe. Buy it! Listen to it! Let it speak to your soul.
Dangerous Dan.

Thanks, Sonny!
He is a spectacular artist . Sonny gives fresh licks and vocals to songs that personify The Blues. . . and then playing with who he does on this album . . . put it all together and you have one heck of a recording!.
