Customer Review
Doin' a happydance for Christine Lavin
(In the interests of full disclosure, I should mention that I have known Chris back to the days decades ago when she left her last "day job" to pursue music full-time and remain one of her biggest fans. Just when it might seem that Christine Lavin's tongue couldn't get any further in her cheek without it emerging, Alien-like, through to the outside, or that her sarcasm couldn't drip any faster, "Happydance of the Xenophobe" proves otherwise. I'm also "on" a couple of her records, as a background singer and radio show host. )

Christine is the only songwriter I know who would not only write a paean to the joys of caffeinated chcolate (or is that chocolated caffeine?) -- the latest in a long series about the joys of various foodstuffs -- but also take the time to research the inventor and mention him by name.

Her satirical songs remain as sharp and funny as ever. Her knack for viewing current events and political issues from a unique, artist's perception will make you look at those issues differently. And her guitar playing, musical arranging, knack for celestial harmonies and production sense continues to evolve.

This record will make you laugh in spots, make you cry in spots, and sometimes both at once. Highly recommended, as are all of Christine's previous releases. And if you see Christine coming to your town (which is almost certain, since she's on the road most of the time), go see her. She's even better live than on record. .
