HE'S FINALLY COME INTO HIS OWN
It is a very mature & professional album,. I've followed Julian since Valotte, and I stumbled on this album a while back & was just amazed. Like you'd find in any good example of rock music, the Beatles' influence is very strong. If it was just a great Beatles' style album that would be enough, but this album is more than just a John jr. clone. This has great originality to it. I listen to this & think Julian (though yes, he does sound a bit like Dad - is that a bad thing?) I'm the same age as Julian and with this I realize there's real advantages to entering middle age, which is really the prime of life for an artist. His talent is genuine. I look forward to more from Julian, hopefully soon.

Sad, Sad, Songs...
3. I gave it 4 stars for adventuring out of the box. 5 on general merit.

I loved the hope and optomism in "Help Yourself", and have enjoyed his talent. He must have been going thrugh hell when he wrote this album; the liner notes mention 2 things including the dealth of his step father. It shows.

I appreciate the talent, and it is good to see him try new things. There are a couple songs which echo John Lennon- I guess to please the critics. A couple others echo his earlier albums, but the overall effect is depressing. I wish I could send him a hug, but I don't listen to this album like I have earlier ones. I will look forward to the next one.

If you like sad songs or are a real fan, give this one a try.

Back at last!
I don't wanna let you down, but "Don't Let Me Down" here is an original and NOT a cover of his dad's (he did that once or twice already, give him a break!). I actually have the UK import, but I have the bonus tracks on singles. "I Need You" is the America hit, and not the one of the other late ex-Beatle George Harrison (from Help!).

He DEFINATELY got his father's talent!
He has every type of song you could hope for on an album: catchy tunes, sad tunes, happy tunes, romantic tunes, etc. John Charles Julian Lennon's first album in years is definately worth the wait. This album is a must-have for any music enthusiast, no matter what your taste is. It is one of the best albums of all time.
