Awesome Album! But I just happened to notice that the price for the import copy that is currently available is $149. I actually wrote a review on the non-import version of this album a few months ago. 00?!?! YIKES!
If you like what you hear, though, don't let that huge ticket price scare you off. There is a non-import version available that is more normally priced. Just click on the following link; and I guarantee you'll like the prices there MUCH better ;)
Mr. Jordan
Just in case you're wondering, the only difference between this one and the non-import one is there is a short 11th bonus track on this import version of "Johnny B. Goode" that Jules did with Billy Joel. You would need to go to MTV. com to listen to a sound byte of that track.
The only other thing I have to say is this highly underrated album is one of my favorite Julian Lennon albums. And I just don't understand why it didn't do better when it was released back in 1989. It's a fun album to listen to and is a definite must have for any Julian Lennon fan. :).
Goodbye Mr. Jordan
His gentle voice, harmonies, and piano certainly recall his father, but with his own perspective. I like Julian Lennon, having bought and enjoyed Valotte, Help Yourself, and Photograph Smile.
Unfortunately, that perspective is missing here. In its place is Patrick Leonard, who served as producer and masterminded the transformation of Julian Lennon into a generic LA-glam guitar rocker. It doesn't work. Julian's voice is morphed through production to sound like a watered-down Bowie, singing over wailing processed LA guitar pyrotechnics and cheesy synth lines and beats.
If I have described something you will like, by all means get this album. Otherwise I would move on.
Mr. Jordan audio CD by Julian Lennon
This is my favorite
CD so far. This CD reveals Julian's remarkable musical talent and his beautiful voice--just like his dad. It rocks my world!.
Julian holds his own
S. Released in the U. and Canada by Atlantic, but is now out-of-print domestically. Released elsewhere by Virgin Records. I had the LP a long time ago, but it disappeared, so I got the CD. Hearing it again, especially the song "Sunday Morning", just took me back. People don't cut Julian slack, especially Yoko. His life isn't all it's cracked up to be. This may be reissued by Rhino someday, but you can do them one better by getting it used like I did or get the import.
