Timeless genius
With powerful lyrics and inspired musicality, brimming with energy and vitality, she has well earned her place in the spotlight. Talent as sweeping and supreme as Annie Lennox's is getting rare. Classicaly trained, she is a very skilled pianist and songwriter. Her arrangements, in my opinion, are her greatest feature.

In her debut solo album, "Diva", she comes out in full force with powerful songs, instantly catchy hooks, and brilliant arrangements. She gives each song everything she has and you catch a glimpse of her spirit, realizing that this is what she was born to do. From the masterful handling of rythmms and instricacies to the wells of strength exhibited in her voice and music, this is essential Lennox.

My favorite tracks include:
"Why", the hit single that shows her extreme vulnerability and complexity as she tries to explain a relationship that's breaking down. It castes a spell on you and you have to stop dead in your tracks, no matter what your doing, as you're swept away her brilliance.
"Walking On Broken Glass", full of dynamic energy with immensely catchy piano and rythmm. This is such a fun song to listen to. One of the best arrangements I've heard.
"Money Can't Buy It", her powerful anti-materialism anthem, a message that needs to be heard with our society's infatuation with money and possessions. The rap half-way through is one of the highlights of the album.
"Little Bird", with its classic Lennox vibe. Sounds almost like a soul/gospel song about breaking free.
I also liked "Stay By Me" with its romantic, nostalgic melancholy. "The Gift" is the albums most subdued track, showcasing Lennox's beautiful introspective lyrics.

Honestly, by buying this album used from Amazon, you could change your life for the price of a Big Mac. It's very high on my favorites list and I admire Lennox's talent and creativity. I went on to buy two more of her albums after hearing this one and I don't regret it. You won't either.

Awesome CD
Just plain great music. This is one of those CD's you can listen to over and over.

Great CD
There are some older hits that I love and some that I hadn't heard before. I have been enjoying different artists/songs on movies this past summer and in finding out the name of the artist/singer/songwriters, am happy to say that I enjoyed the entire CD.

Her best release!
I do like No More I love You's, but don't care for the album Medusa. I think that Annie Lennox's solo album diva is her best. I remember the songs being played constantly all over tv and the radio from the 90's,but obviously didn't know that it was Annie Lennox. After listening to most of the Eurythmics work, I decided to check out Annie Lennox's first solo project. Boy, was I blown away. This album is exactly what rolling stone descirbes it. State of the art pop for it's time. Why took me alittle time to sink my teeth into. I admit, I wasn't too found the track at first, but after viewing the video. I really liked the song. Very strong imagery. Walking on Broken glass is a clssic. I've heard it played on countless movies, tv shows, and a billion times at my job because of the soft rock station. I really like that song, because I had heard it a billion times before, but never knew who it was. It's got a really funny video, and the song is upbeat and catchy. Primitive is a pretty cool track. it's got a nice groove to it. very similiar to something lisa stansfield would do. Little Bird is my favorite track from the album, it's got great lyrics and a great techno beats to it. Cold was a pretty interesting track and video to. To me this album is very similiar to most of Madonna's albums in the 90's. Especially Bedtime stories,Erotica, and something to remember. So i can see why this album had alot of success. Overall, if you like pop music should buy this. It's one of the best pop albums of the 90s!.
