Slipping
This is another in pop and rock's great tradition of picking over the fossilized ashes of a dead relationship. I've been listening to Bare for a fair part of this Labor Day weekend and it's time to file it away because it slips a bit more each time I play it. As if we didn't know that from the music, Ms. Lennox spells it out for us in exquisite detail on the back of the jewel case. Note to her and a zillion others: let your artistry speak for itself. No words of explanation will give life to inert work. And, equally, words will not enhance a masterpiece. It overwhelms on its own merits.

Bare is neither disaster nor masterpiece. It will never slip below three stars because Ms. Lennox is a pro. She's got a full-ranged expressive voice. She wrings every bit of yearning from a ballad and, over the years of collaboration with Dave Stewart in the Eurythmics, learned to use arrangements to reinforce those strengths and showcase her voice, lyrics, and emotions. For about half of Bare, those skills produce superb music and a swirl of regret, longing, anger, and loss -- Pavement Cracks, Honestly, and the three cuts toward the end of the CD that are its peak -- Loneliness, The Saddest Song I've Got, and Erased.

But as for the rest, think overkill, think self-pity and think -- especially -- long; The Hurting Time is meant to be a 7 and half minute high point of pain. Instead it is merely excruciating. And what to say about the arrogant Oh, God? Nothing.

Under the covers with Annie...
It's vintage, classy older-woman-material that says what she's feeling without boring or overbearing you. Annie Lennox's BARE is somehow dark and revealing but decadent and expressive. Essentially, BARE is a sensual, compassionate and completely satisfying romp in the sack, devoid of the sometimes burdensome and clingy inconveniences of commitment. Sexy work. . . well done!.


Girl...you should have called.....
I am a new Annie Lennox fan, but she is brutally honest about life and issues people experience. I have posted this in my review of Songs of Mass Destruction. Life IS hard. We aren't always where we want to be in our lives. Most people sing endlessly about lost love, and I get that. . . but it is not that she doesn't sing about it. . but she transforms these issues into larger life statements. Her writing is flawless, and her courage for writing this album is amazing. I hope she found much reward from this album. It has touched my life. But Annie girl. . . . next time give your sisters a call. . . it helps!! :).

I just cant get enough of it! I get more out of each song each time I listen to it. The more I listen to this CD, the more I love it.

I especially love Honestly and Loneliness, but, love all the songs.

Wonderful, Wonderful, Cd.
THe description online was exactly the same as the item when it arrived; Factoroy wrapping, never been opened, great condition. I bought this Item from and Independant seller. The price, about 3. 49, was an AMAZING price for a cd created in 2003. The shipping price was also totally amazing. Im so happy with this product. I listen to this CD Everyday. THankyou so much Mark! I love this CD! .
