Received within 4 days, new condition, very happy customer
Annie Lennox is a premier artist of the 1980's and representative of UK music. This supplier was very fast to ship, and the item was in new condition as stated.

A very nice surprise
I really know very little about her music. First let me say that I am not a die-hard Lennox fan. I bought this cd for tracks 2-4, which were the only ones I was familiar with.

But what a great surprise the rest of this cd was. Little Bird, Pavement Cracks, A Whiter Shade of Fade, Shining Light, Pattern of My Life, and Cold are all new favorites of mine. This whole collection of songs were a real treat to listen too. I am now quite a fan of Ms Lennox.

I'm sure diehard fans will find songs missing from this collection, but for a new listener, this set is quite amazing.

annie rocks.....
it took the longest 2 arrive, of all the items i ordered, but i was happy when i got it & listened! also, it was 1/2 the price, even w/shipping, then it was in the stores. this is a GR8 selection of annies past & present songs. im a Huge amazon. com fan now.

Annie in All Her Colors on an Impressive Retrospective
This 2009 collection focuses strictly on her solo output, so there are no Sweet Dreams to be found here. It's hard to believe it's been 32 years since Annie Lennox first collaborated with Dave Stewart even before they formed Eurythmics and a mere seventeen years since her much-anticipated solo debut, 1992's Diva. What it does have are five tracks from "Diva", arguably her best album, and the rest breezing through the years since with two new recordings included, the wistful "Pattern of My Life" by Keane's Tom Chaplin and the celebratory cover of Irish alt-rock band Ash's "Shining Light". Lennox has only made four albums on her own, so her 1995 all-covers Medusa, 2003's Bare and 2007's Songs of Mass Destruction are represented with a couple of tracks each on this disc.

Lennox's soulful yet immaculate vocal delivery is what remains timeless even more than the pop craftsmanship behind her more prominent hits like the "Little Bird" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Her breakout hit "Why" remains masterfully hypnotic, and "Precious" still percolates with near-religious fervor. However, the standout of the "Diva" quintet has to be "Cold" with its eerie quality taking flight from Lennox's lush sense of dramatic force. The two tracks from "Medusa" showcase her unerring ability to make the familiar sound fresh with her mournful take on Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and the innate theatrical flair she brings to Lover Speaks' "No More `I Love You's'". From "Bare", neither "Pavement Cracks" nor "A Thousand Beautiful Things" display the sheer audacity of her previous efforts, but they show how she can turn in beautiful performances with her customary dexterity.

From "Songs of Mass Destruction", Lennox sounds even more rapturous on the somber "Dark Road", and on the African-tinged "Sing", she energizes an all-female chorus of 23 stars (including Faith Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Dido, Sarah MacLachlan, Gladys Knight, Beth Orton, Celine Dion and a most discernible Madonna among many others) who join voices for a gospel-fueled anthem which can be viewed as a more serious-minded sequel to Lennox's memorable duet with Aretha Franklin from over two decades back, "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves". While nominally about female empowerment, the song really reflects Lennox's dedication to bringing global awareness to the HIV/AIDS crisis. On the other end of the emotional spectrum is "Love Song for a Vampire", the evocative yet enervating theme song to Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula. As a companion piece to Eurythmics' The Ultimate Collection, this album is a genuine showcase for one of pop's most accomplished voices.
