Get another collection. It's twice as long, and includes "Sundown", "Carefree Highway", and many more. These are obviously good songs, but if you're looking for his bigger hits, spend a few more dollars on "Complete Greatest Hits". Even "Gord's Gold" is better than this.
Memories
I have great memories of these melodies playing throughout my childhood and I am still making new memories to the likes of Sundown and Bitter Green. I was born after this album was released and was raised to it playing in the background. What better way to grow up than to the sounds of soft passion? I rate this album as one of the best of all time. Always good to calm the spirit and enlighten the soul.
A classic Lightfoot collection
I should point out that this is a best of his original work from his first 5 records, songs that clearly established him in the industry, and songs which i have never grown tired of listening too. When i saw this online, i also saw another review posted by a david, he was dissapointed that sundown and if you could read my mind where not on here.
a music lover down under
surely these songs would be 3 of his best of. i cant beleive that a "best of" album wouldn't contain, sundown,if you could read my mind and the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald. a good selection none the less, but it was dissapointing not to hear 3 favourites on the same album. david.
What a deal!
Anyone who has ever lost love, or found love, or hit the road can relate to the feelings expressed in these songs. This is the finest collection of early Gordon Lightfoot music. His voice is young and strong. The lyrics lacks the poetic beauty of much of his later work. This is more than made up for as he sings straight from the heart. I listen to this CD over and over. You sure can't beat the price.
