Record company blows it again...
But, apparently it is more than EMI can do to assemble a decent single disc covering the era (previous options included the lame-sounding and too-short "Best of Gordon Lightfoot", and the well-chosen but overpriced Canadian import "Over 60 Minutes With. Forget this disc - Gordon Lightfoot, for my money, made the best music of his career during his stay with United Artists in the late 60's. . . "). This should have been the disc that fixed all that, but, apparently the monkeys are still running the zoo in EMI's reissue department. . . or else they just really want this great music to remain undiscovered.

Do yourself a favor - buy the two-disc "United Artists Collection", which includes his first four studio albums in totality (and actually costs less than this reject). Yes, I know 49 tracks might seem like a little much, but it's really good stuff, and if you need a starting point, you could get out your cd burner and re-create the track lineup from the aforementioned "Over 60 Minutes With. . . " set. Enjoy!.
