Fred Durst's Attempt To Cross Over (Rating: 4 out of 10- -2 stars)
But to be straight up: This album sucks. Although I primary listen to hip hop most of my life, I ocassionally listen to other genres of music. It sucked back in 1999 and it sucks today.

Lets bust a few myths before I continue:

*Fred Durst is not rap, let alone hip hop. He basically just says words in a fast pace. He barely stays on beat on some of these songs.

*Anyone who says Fred Durst is an excellent lyricist needs to have their hearing checked. Just listen to "Nookie" for a good example.

*I don't listen to heavy metal that much anymore, but just because you hear some heavy drums and loud electric guitars, doesn't make you heavy metal.

Now as for this album, I only find two good tracks on here which are "9 Teen 90 Nine" and "N2Gether Now", only because of Method Man, and DJ Premier. In fact that song was the only reason why I wanted this album back in '99. Everything else sucks. Most of the vocals here are horrible to listen to (even "Rearranged" looses it's momentum after a while). And I agree with one reviewer who says that the drummer John Otto sounds like hes just beating the drums insanely. And I still believe DJ Lethal should have stayed with "House Of Pain" because this band has been dragging his career down.

Overall I can't recommend this album to anyone, unless you are into pop and alternative music (I can barely call this rock). I won't lie, I was about 13 or 14 when this dropped and thought it was awesome. 7 years later, you couldn't pay me to listen to this anymore. Whats even worse is that I bought their next album, which is WORSE than this. My advice, download "N2Gether Now" because I believe that is the best track. Avoid this album all together though.

i. don't. think so.
first: how dare you, Katherine Turman! how *DARE* you compare this lowly peasant-like "rap" rock band to the surrealistic, Godlike Tool. i have but one thing (maybe two) to say. i agree that Don't Go Off Wandering is a pretty good song(especially by Limp Bizkit's standards. ) but i can not. and will not! tolerate *ANYONE* comparing LB to Tool. it's like comparing a candle flame (Limp Bizkit) to the *freakin'* sun (Tool). with that being said i personally think that LB started out strong with Three Dollar Bill Y'all. i think that's an excellent cd with highlights such as Counterfeit, Stuck, Sink Finger, and Everything: an incredible 16 and a half minute auditory onslaught. but they plunged severely with Significant Other. there are a few exceptions. like Nobody Like You and A Lesson Learned, plus a few others. but most of the songs on this cd i cannot stand. and i refuse to listen to any of their work after this mediocre excuse for an album. but even so Three Dollar Bill Y'all remains, to this day, one of my favorite cds. it's too bad they didn't stick with the harder, more melodic style. otherwise i'd probably still be a fan.

this was more or less their best album
The rest of the cd is ok at best. while this is no masterpiece it does stand out as limp bizkits best album thier best songs break stuff and nookie are on this cd. beyond those two songs in my opinion maybe a few more on other cds limp bizkit, mainly durst, sucks.

Limp Bizkit sucks!!!!!!!!
welcome to the limp crapp
this band sucks so bad, please dont waste your money buying this crapp, fred durst is a faken loser. .

Vintage Bizkit! This is the good stuff!
I didn't care for them that much on their first album because it seemed to repetitive. I like Limp Bizkit, I've liked them ever since this album. Bizkit is one of the real good rapcore bands. There are a few other good bands who have succeeded and been good like LB, like P. O. D. (Warriors!!!!) and Papa Roach and a couple more, these guys are great. I like this album alot especially the song "No Sex" it is the epitomy of Anti-Sex songs! Its funny too with a chorus like "Should have kept my pants on this time"! How can you not like it. The hits are old now and aren't worth listening to that much but the other tracks are better anyway. Anyone who misses when this was good music needs to click the helpful button. Also buy Chocolate Starfish and Hotdog Flavored Water which is just as good if only harder!.
