The title tells you all you need to know.
I mean, come on, people. .

If even the artists themselves are forced to title their work 'Results May Vary', you just know it's going to suck.

I don't know if you could ever describe Limp Bizkit as "creative", but there was something vaguely resembling musical and lyrical development on 'Significant Other'. But any promise they may have shown was thrown out the window by 'Chocolate Starfish' as Fred Durst was reduced to squawking variations of "Why don't you all worship at my feet!" on every song. I suppose the most charitable thing you can say about this album is that it merely continues this trend, as Durst ratches up his paranoid, persecuted persona to almost comical levels.

In a way, it is kind of interesting to think about what makes Durst tick. On one hand, he spews hatred against the media, other bands, music critics, the public, and whoever his girlfriend is at the time. On the other, he complains about being hated in return, how nobody loves and understands him, and how he can't get critical and commercial respect. Well, gee, Fred; if you're going to needlessly slag off everybody you've ever associated with, you end up friendless and despised. You'd think this would sink in after he's written his 50th song about "I hate you/why can't you like me?" But it never does.

Any remaining credibility Durst may have had goes down the toilet with this release. There's not even the promise of it being "so bad it's good", because Durst's ugly, undeserved rants just grate after a while. A terrible, embarassing, laughable, album.

Pick this CD up!!

FYI on a side note as of 2/12/09 Limp Bizkit is officially back together and working on a tour oversea and planning on releasing a cd. This is Limp Bizkit's best cd and yet the guitarist isn't even Wes Borland, it's Mike Smith. www. limpbizkit. com.

Really good when I was in middle school
Parts of "Eat you alive", the part of just wanting to look at someone all day. I first heard this album when I was in middle school (I know, I know, a young one) and at time in my life, the album really spoke to me. I know what that feels like. Half the songs on the album really spoke to me. It also opened me up to a lot of new music. When I found out that one of the songs was a cover, "Behind Blue Eyes", I was opened up to a lot of new music, which is some of favorite today. It seemed like the album was aimed at my target audience at the time. As funny as it seems, a Limp Bizkit album was big part of growing up for me. But really, the album made me think. I like music that does that. It gave me something to listen to when I would have something they now call an "emo moment". To the people who say it's terrible, they're missing out on something. They didn't connect with the music in a way that I did, and I feel sorry for them.

Back to the Same Old Chalkboard Again

Fred sounds like a depressed middle-class suburban white boy trying to act street once again (Surprised? I'm not) on this album. You'd think after 11+ years of the same thing, Limp Bizkit would finally give it up; but nope, they are at it again with yet another album that sounds as bad as their past ones. Between his mixed attempts at singing, rapping, screaming, and all three at once, it sounds like a symphony of vocal mayhem on my ears. The man can't do any of the pre-mentioned, but he likes to think he can, apparently. For someone who likes to bask in the self-acclaimed fact claiming that he is "metal" (Yes, he considers himself to be "metal", he has made it clear on many VH1 specials. Even though, he likes to dress like a complete fool; wearing furry Kangol hats and big diamond stud earrings isn't metal Fred!), he certainly doesn't show it on any of his past albums, or this one for that matter. LB's most "metal" song is Break Stuff, and that is for the simple fact that Jon Davis appears on it.

Now, onto the band itself- They still have no talent. The only slightly talented member of the band is Wes Borland, and he sounds like Stevie Wonder blind swinging at the strings with a broken arm. Lets face it; the entire band is horrible, but they are made to sound more horrible than they probably are with Fred's repeated beat and pre-school lyrics. Before you say that they aren't elementary when they're writing, look at some of the titles; "Red Light-Green Light", "Build a Bridge", and "Lonely World". I don't know about anyone else, but to me, those sound like they sat in front of a TV and watched Sesame Street while under the influence.

Now, my big gripe about this album, and a personal message to Limp-

L-I-M-P

Sing it.

Discover.

You are kidding, right? You took a perfectly good song by a legendary and groundbreaking band, and tore it to shreds by adding in a less-than-stellar techno breakdown, or whatever you'd like to call it, to it, on top of your horrible butchering of the drums, bass, and guitar lines, as well as adding in redundant scratching from your "DJ" while Fred sings his vile heart out. You boys started with a crappy cover, why not end with one, huh?

If you think of buying this album, don't. Just go to SpiralFrog or some other free music downloading site, listen to the songs, then drop it into your recycling bin, where it belongs. .

In an age of predictable rubbish...
I actually feel this is one of Fred's strongest efforts (a few pretentious tracks aside). I'm not sure why this album has been so poorly received. I've never been a 'Bizkit' fan, so I was surprised to like this album as much as I did. There are a few tracks that would rank as 'boring' or 'filler', but for the most part, there is a lot to be said for what Durst intended. It's too bad that he felt he needed to change his style after this album, and thereby (unintentionally) ended his own career. I really like what was recorded here, and I truthfully feel this was his best album. Give it a go with an open mind.
