Back to their roots very little hip-hop on here and political lyrics, which will put you mindless, idiot, hypocritical haters in your place, who just hate limp bizkit because it's cool and their lyrics weren't deep. This is the limp bizkit I love, back to their roots, closer to three dollar bill. Now that they're back together hopefully they will make a part 2. .
Comic Genius!
Boy, have times changed. It's hard to believe that for a few years there in the late 90's, Fred Durst was taken seriously as an artist and musician. The departure of Wes Borland made Limp Bizkit little more than Durst's backup group, and his juvenile, self-centred, embarassing rants on 'Results May Vary' made him a laughing stock. Now Borland is back, and 'The Unquestionable Truth' seems designed as more serious and politically-conscious. Could Durst and Limp Bizkit be delivering a more mature, intelligent album?
Short answer: no. Mostly, this is because it's impossible to take Durst seriously in his new role as social commentator. Previously Durst's only complaint about the world was that it didn't revolve around him. Now he's suddenly a spokesman for his generation?? The idea is laughable, and it looks suspiciously like Durst simply wanted to jump on board the latest rock bandwagon (anti-Bush, anti-war), rather than having a genuine interest in broadening his reach.
The really funny thing is, even when he's supposedly commenting on the state of the world, Durst still ends up making it all about him. Comments on terrorism, war and the Church are intercut with whines about celebrity culture, rock radio, and the media. . . as if 9/11 and paparrazi photos are equally evil. And for all his bluster, Durst doesn't really say anything of interest. He simply regurgitates his usual "I hate the world" rants and directs it at some new targets.
The album's one saving grace is that Borland makes Limp Bizkit listenable again, which helps compensate for Durst's hilarious performance. Definitely not a good album, but take comfort in the fact that without Borland it could have been much worse!.
Good
Unquestionable truth on the other hand is shockingly good after all the crap they put out since Significant other. Not a fan of Limp except with three dollar bill a heavy raw album that keeps me banging all the way.
I'm still wondering is this even nu-metal? because best thing about it is there's no beats, no rappers (thank god) and Fred has more of a rap-styled voice instead of just rapping so considered it more Alternative metal. Another thing that might seem different is the drumming, John otto only provides it in one song due to his drug problem or something and in my opinion is better and much heavier than than otto's style. If you despise Bizkit with all your life i suggest you get three dollar bill, you might hate the rap and the bit of beat boxing but it still pretty "intense" and then give unquestionable truth a listen first because even though is much heavier than what they got know for it still doesn't bring the screams and raw power that they had in the first album but Wes guitar work is some of the heaviest he's ever done. Hey I'm just a moron that has a taste in "real metal" but somehow this stuff is good. Better than any of the newest metal that is nothing but emo or pop influenced so put this on and mosh the F out!. . . . . PROPAGANDA!.
My god.. Horrible..
Ok. I've actually listened to this album and I have to ask. . what were they thinking? Limp Bizkit was never politically active and coming from them anything that might seem remotely in that direction would seem like an action that only was made based on which way the wind was blowing.
I'll have to say that I loved "3 dollar bill" and that was their high time. Some of significant other was ok, but they started trying hard to be cool rather than doing what they were good at, which WAS music. After hearing this, being a fan of the older material. . I'll have to say the painful truth that I hear local rock shows that sound more in tune and more together than Limp Bizkit does. This is God Awful! .
it's not great, but it's still a really good listen
I saw this cd sitting on the shelf, so I went on a wim and bought it.
I'm currently stationed in afghanistan where our px sells nothing but country music and mainstream rap-crap. I've never been a big fan of limp bizkit because of their sappy lyrical content, but have always liked wes borland alot. I have to say this cd surprised me. It's got some real krunchy guitar riffs, well thought out lyrics, and hardly anything is to be seen of their cheesey hip hop/nu metal fusion which was so popular back in the day (which I couldnt stand). It depends on if your a dj lethal fan or not this could be a good thing or a bad thing. When it comes down to it. It's a pretty heavy cd with a pretty cool message and something you can listen to all the way through. .
