" "Eula" raised the topic of a thing or two I can't learn in school. At the moment, I am really feeling "Gimmee a Stone. "Sample in a Jar" might be about something that is not legal. News and politics are addictions that can produce a great sense of honor. People who have that sense like to mention it without telling other people what it means to them because it is much bigger than their own understanding of anything. Good music can put down roots in a particular topic and let you feel how complicated things get as melody and harmony play themselves out. It has been an honor to be able to expound on whatever topic I choose to tell, but I should put myself down when I fail to conform to common decency. Politics based on dirty tricks projects so much indecency onto the other side, mud slinging has been used as a euphemism for what goes on. I would like to remember some words to a song on Little Feat's "Chinese Work Songs" CD.

A stone that I can hold,
A stone that I can throw.
Someone give me a stone,
Someone give me a stone.

That sounds much cleaner to me than the political process. Veterans for Peace was trying to make some point on Sunday in Saint Paul, Minnesota, like the lines:

Absalom, Absalom, I would die for you my son.
The saddest thing I've ever done
was to lay you in the ground.


Uninspired by this Feat
The styles are formulaic, and I didn't feel that Shaun Murphy was really part of the band. I'm a great Little Feat lover, but I was disappointed by this one. Sorry but the title song is just annoying. I wanted to give my kids a taste of the truly creative rock that these folks made way back when - well this is not it.


Big Time Rockin' from Little Feat !
This album just plain kicks *** Well, I do wan this to be a family readable review, so you can put your own words there!

The covers of "Rag Mama Rag" and "It Takes a Lot to Laugh. With the demise of the Greatful Dead, this album should propel Little Feat to the title of The Best Rock 'n' Roll Band. . . " are excellent and unmistakeably Little Feat. The group really kicks back to the "Dixie Chicken" days with "Just Another Sunday". Without realizing it, I found myself in my car with the windows down, stereo cranked to max while cruisin' down the highway. My vote for Best Cut on the disk.

The title cut is a wonderful blend that is stamped "Made By Little Feat". Top quality al the way through. "Eula" was very reminiscent of "Fat man in a Bathtub". I could almost see Lowell George in the background.

My old live Little Feat tape is long since worn out. If this CD were a tape, it too would be worn out is very short order!.


This Album is one of the best.
Covering those songs were tight and right on the money. This Album is the best album I have ever own and I love it. . . . The original songs where some of the best songs I've ever heard by any artist. I rate this album with 5 stars a complete CLASSIC!!!!.


How did this get outta the studio?
How could anyone one of these major talents listen to the pitiful quality of this recording and say that it was ready for release? Nathaniel Kunkel mixed "Representing the Mambo", and obviously knows what he'sdoing. Little Feat is still one of the sweetest bands to ever play a funky tune - with Lowell and without - a stellar group of musicians. There is NO separation on any of the tracks - Feat sounds better in concert than on this CD. The entire effort borders on unlistenable, garage band quality. It's painful to say this because I love you guys - but for cryin'out loud - we've all been listening to music WAY too long to call this anywhere near a professional effort. It's like showin' up to dinner in a tuxedo with a pair of brown shoes.
