The Title says it all Few songs can get you going like the title track. You will love evry minute of it ! You can't go wrong here. Steal The Thunder rocks as does FRIDAY NIGHT. There is not a weak song on this album.
Lovin' ... well, most of the minutes of it
" They also turned to more outside songwriters to help them out, and the results are interesting. After recording three albums produced by the incomparable Bruce Fairbairn, Loverboy went in a different direction and recruited Tom Allom, most noted at the time for producing Judas Priest, to produce "Lovin' Every Minute of It. The title track, written by Mutt Lange, is a total stomp--and the video was hilarious--while songs like "Bullet In The Chamber" and "Steal The Thunder" are harder that anything they'd done previously. My personal favorite song is "Lead A Double Life" (contrary to a previous reviewer's belief that is indeed Mike Reno singing, just going a couple octaves lower. I saw them do this live when they toured for this album), which is a synth-driven whirlwind with a great beat. The band achieved its first American top ten hit with the pretty ballad "This Could Be The Night," but don't overlook "Destination Heartbreak" either. However there are a couple duds, most notably "Too Much Too Soon" and the "let's recycle 'Working For The Weekend'" "Friday Night. " I wouldn't use this album to introduce someone to Loverboy, but overall it's not bad. .
Hot Stuff!
This album well saps the core of the 80s American pop and hard rock during mid 80s and could be the memorable piece of work countering well with Survivor's Vital Signs, Starship's Knee Deep In A Hoopla, Heart and Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi. Loverboy's fourth album in 1985 produced two top ten hits LOVIN' EVERY MINUTE OF IT and THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT and minor hits LEAD A DOUBLE LIFE and DANGEROUS. Huge influence from the bands they toured with during their American live tours during the past enabled them to keep the track of what is hot in American rock then.
LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT the title track penned by Mutt Lunge is such a cutting-edge rock hit tracks. STEAL THE THUNDER is a heavyset mid tempo rock track again hottest one during mid 80s. Fourth track THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT is collaborated with Jonathan Cain of Journey another fruit of joint-tour collaboration. This ballad shows well the appeal of Mike Reno's mellow voice probably the extention of ALMOST PARADISE in FOOTLOOSE soundtrack in 1984. Loverboy made another successful appearance in Heaven In Your Eyes in TOP GUN soundtrack. LEAD A DOUBLE LIFE is a techno-pop track reminding me of their earlier hits. DANGEROUS is well-hooked masterpiece track which became a minor US hit.
Verdict: Canadian rocker strives to be the best one in America. Well-done work
Rating: 90 out of 100
Recommended for: Survivor, Journey, Foreigner and mid 80s pop rock fans.
The Last Of Prime Loverboy
The Mutt Lange (legendary producer for Def Leppard, AC/DC, Foreigner and Shania Twain) penned title track, leads off the album.
This is the last Loverboy release of their platinum run, which lasted for their first four releases from 1981-1986. It is by far the best song on the CD and the primary reason for owning it in the first place. This is a top-notch rock song that is at par with their earlier classics. In turn it was their first Billboard Top Ten hit, peaking at #9 in 1985.
Although bordering on clichés, this collection packs some decent rockers in the mix, "Friday Night", "Too Much Too Soon", "Dangerous" (the album's third single) and the New-Wave tinged "Lead a Double Life", the latter with lead voacls by lead guitarist Paul Dean. The album closes on a heavier note with "Bullet In The Chamber". "This Could Be The Night", a good and palatable ballad, is also included, which was their second and final top 10 single, peaking right at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100
Not really recommended as a starting point for getting acclimated with the prime work of Loverboy, but Lovin' Every Minute Of it is a fine addition to their better output.
.
Lovin' every second of it!
The title track has great lyrics("touch that dial, turn me on,start me like a motor, make me run. Loverboy fans will be lovin' every second of this album. "). The love ballad THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT is cool. I also like DESTINATION HEARTBREAK,BULLET IN THE CHAMBER and FRIDAY NIGHT. This album is Loverboy's fourth since 1980. The band was getting closer to fulfilling their contract with Columbia Records. Great album!
