First Half of cd is horrible Second half aces It has Turn Me Loose on it, which is probably the best song they ever recorded. The first album on this 2fer is Loverboy's debut album. The rest of that album is only half-assed 80s drivel. The second album on the 2fer is Loverboys's "Get Lucky". This is their best ever and has a lot of their hits on it. It's better to get this collection than to get their greatest hits package. If you like 80s flavored rock, this is the album to get. I would give "Get Lucky" 4 stars by itself but the debut is not all that and brings this package down to 3. By itself the debut is worth 2 stars at most.
The remastered sound on this release is good and Loverboy have never sounded better. Unless you are a fan of Loverboy, this cd gets you all their must own tracks in one neat package. The rest of their hits are throwaway 80s commercial rock. .
80's rock n roll
Sound quality was great. Great cd collection of two of their albums. If you love the 80's generation music and love Loverboy, this is a must have. James.
More Than Luck
Before Night Ranger and Bon Jovi there was Loverboy to provide a blueprint. Two great albums remastered and on one cd. Though they ran out of ideas towards the end of the 80's, the bands they inspired carried on to give fans of this brand of rock something to listen to. Loverboy was a great live band and have recently reunited with a new album that sounds great, too. See them live if you can; they put on some of the best shows of the 80's-just make sure you hear these two albums first.
LOVERBOY "the Pride of Canada"
ROCKS & MAKES ONE LONG FOR THE 80'S ALL OVER AGAIN.
Great 2-on-1 Reissue
The Canadian rockers were major players in the 80's arena rock scene and sold a ton of albums. It's nice to see that after 25 years, someone finally got around to digitally remastering the early Loverboy albums. It's only fitting that their catalog gets the same kind of sonic makeover that the Journey and Foreigner albums received.
This 2006 2-on-1 reissue contains the band's first two albums - Loverboy (1980) and Get Lucky (1981) - the latter featuring the smash hit "Working for the Weekend". Reissue label BGO did a great job remastering these albums. The sound is as crisp and clear as anything released today.
I know that a remastered version of Get Lucky was reissued separately this year, and that it featured previously unreleased demo tracks, so I struggled a bit as to which version to purchase. I'm glad there is a remastered Get Lucky out there, but I want to get the whole Loverboy catalog remastered - not just an album here and there, and since BGO just released another Loverboy 2-on-1 (Keep It Up/Lovin' Every Minute of It), it was clear which way I should go. They may not feature any bonus tracks, but they sound great and do have some nice expanded liner notes.
Casual fans may want to check out the other Get Lucky reissue, or perhaps one of the band's many compilation albums. Serious Loverboy fans will definitely want to add Loverboy/Get Lucky to their collections.
