Oh Lordy, it's a heck of a great album! It's not a really historical album, but still it shows the geniality behind this band, that represents really well the Southern rock. It is certainly a great album. The album has some really great hits such as "Tuesday is gone" and "Simple man", also featuring their best song ever, "Freebird", which is just fabulous. The longest, and one of the most spectacular guitar solos, a real guitar duel, not talking about the drums: just makes you fly like a freebird. The album starts really well with "I ain't the one". In "Gimme three steps", "Things going on" and "Mississipi Kid", they show us the power of Southern rock. "Poison Whiskey" is just fantastic; a mix of country and hard rock, really well played. Ronnie Van Zant's voice is the typical southern man voice and it gives the band that good ol' red neck taste. And besides, these guys are able to combine three guitars wonderfully well, making the sound complete. Don't forget to pay attention to keyboards, especially when it comes to that old western piano: just amazing. .

Lynyrd rocks the way ABB rocks except their songs are of shorter nature. Debut album from raunchy boys of the South. Jamming is not as essential to Skynyrd as is to ABB. For only Freebird, let alone the others, this album is essential. I Ain't the One is the very first song in the cd and it is cleverly penned and composed. Tuesday's Gone is prone to many covers. It is a slow one. Gimme Three Steps is humorous. Simple Man is another slow number. Things Goin' On has anti-Semitist lyrics.

"Pronounced" is the Sistine Chapel of Southern rock.
it is a musical achievment of such virtuosity and unparalleled excellence, that it has become the measure by which all other works of art and achievement in every field of endeavor are judged.
Great
Most people look at Free Bird and just assume it is good, but it is not good, it is great. Pronounced is the best American Band released CD in 1973, (Darkside of the Moon by a British Band). "I Ain't the One" is a great rocker, "Tuesday's Gone" is a great bluesy type tune. Gimme Three Steps" everyone has heard this one. "Simple Man" is the best song on the album. "Things Goin' On" is one of the best singalong songs ever, great lyrics. "Mississippi Kid" is also great, for God's sake it has a mandolin in it. "Poison Whiskey" is the second best track on the whole CD. "Free Bird" well, it's Free Bird. The most requested song in FM radio history. Sell your dog to buy this.
One Of Skynyrd's Eight Best
"Gimme Three Steps" is about getting away from any bad situation, "Things Goin' On" takes to task the safety-threatening political calabash occurring at all levels of government, "Simple Man" warns us all to keep it close to the ground, and "Tuesday's Gone" is the tale of someone leaving, presumably a lover, but really his whole life, behind, but not knowing where he's headed; in fact, some of the lyrics encapsulate my decision to give up attending special meal-related functions at my old school. Along with SECOND HELPING, STREET SURVIVORS, ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD, NUTHIN' FANCY, GIMME BACK MY BULLETS, FREEBIRD: THE MOVIE, and SKYNYRD'S FIRST, this is Lynyrd Skynyrd's best album. "Free Bird" now stands as a tribute to Ronnie, Steve, Allen, Cassie, and Dean, but could be also looked at by some really morbid people as a suicide note. Great songs, great record.
