Lynyrd Skynyrd "Second Helping" - "More Early Skynyrd Recordings" Produced by Al Kooper (The Yankee Slicker)!!!!!
This one contains a song written by the late/great Ronnie Van Zant about Al Kooper discovering them, and signing them to a record contract - the song: "Workin' for MCA". Another great early Lynyrd Skynyrd album cd, produced by Al Kooper of MCA records. Other classics on this cd written by the late/great Ronnie Van Zant & Lynyrd Skynyrd include: "Sweet Home Alabama", "Don't Ask Me No Questions", "The Ballad of Curtis Loew", "Swamp Music" (This one contains a reference to the legendary bluesman Son House, whom Ronnie liked - it goes "When the Hound Dogs Start Barking, They Sound Like Son House Singing The Blues". ),and "Call Me the Breeze" (A Song Written by J. J. Cale, another artist whom Ronnie liked). This cd contains 11 songs, including 3 bonus songs. This is a Lynyrd Skynyrd Classic Album CD and a "must-have" for any serious Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, and I am one!!! Thanks!!!!.

Skynyrd's other best album!
Well, it's hard to compare the Gaines version of Skynyrd with the King Version of Skynyrd, so I'll just go ahead and call Second Helping Skynyrd's OTHER best album! They really came into their own on this release. OK, in my review for Skynyrd's Street Survivors I call that their best album. Prounounced is great, too, but Leon didn't even play bass on it (he had quit the band shortly before the recording of that album), so Ed King was hired to play bass. Thankfully, Leon came back before the recording of Second Helping and Ronnie Van Zant, ever so wisely, not only hired Leon back, but decided to switch King to guitar rather than fire him. The man was a genius. And King's guitar genius comes alive on Second Helping. Who can imagine Sweet Home Alabama, one of the most popular rock songs ever, without that famous picked intro? That was Ed King. The way that he, Gary Rossington, and Allen Collins interplayed their guitar parts was absolutely magical and orchestral! The whole album is one killer track after another. The horn arrangements were a perfect touch on Don't Ask Me No Questions and Call Me The Breeze, which features the greatest rock piano solo ever by Billy Powell! A total climax to the song! You just can't beat this album! An absolute must for any rock and roll fan!!!.

classic cd
i remember listening to the original lineup as a young kid. this band is fantastic. i have been a fan ever since. this cd is top shelf, it has some really good songs. its a timeless classic. great sound also. i mean what more can you say. they are still good even with all the lineup changes. this cd is a rock classic. its really a must have for rock music fans. this band inspired me to want to play the guitar when i heard freebird. and countless others. this band had it and still does a great sound. i think this cd may be the best cd for classic or southern rock, its as good as they get.

Southern Rock That's Worth A Damn
C. especially this Second Helping M. A album, from that legendary band, from Florida, you know the one, this being more or less a greatest hits for the group, obviously at their high peak very best, showcasing all the versatility and influences, song after song,as in the blues when you hear,The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe, and I Need You,revealing Ronnie Van Zant's true colors, then moving full steam ahead is the potent rocker,Call Me The Breeze or the keep to yourself,Don't Ask Me No Questions, and of course the signature song,Sweet Home Alabama. This classic southern rock recording,1974,will stand the test of time, introducing the one and only Lynyrd Skynyrd. .
