Madonna ... THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION (1990)
This would, obviously, be Madonna's first greatest hits compilation, and it is a great album. On November 13, 1990, Madonna released her seventh album entitled, THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION. This album features 17 great songs, with the first fifteen songs being Madonna's greatest hits from 1983 to 1990, all remixed in Q-Sound, with the last two tracks being newly recorded songs. Read on.
HOLIDAY
From the 1983 album "Madonna". Still an absolute classic. I still say that Madonna's best performances of this song are featured on her "Blond Ambition 1990 Tour", "Girlie Show 1993 Tour", "Drowned World 2001 Tour", & "Re-Invention 2004 Tour".
LUCKY STAR
From the 1983 album "Madonna". Another timeless classic.
BORDERLINE
From the 1983 album "Madonna". Words cannot describe this great tune.
LIKE A VIRGIN
From the 1984 album "Like A Virgin". Still a classic that can still us all, as if it were "the very first time".
MATERIAL GIRL
From the 1984 album "Like A Virgin". Great song.
CRAZY FOR YOU
From the 1985 original motion picture & soundtrack "Vision Quest". Still a beautiful song, and I really enjoyed hearing Madonna perform this one on her "Re-Invention 2004 Tour".
INTO THE GROOVE
From the 1985 original motion picture "Desperately Seeking Susan". Awesome song. A song that can still make us "Get Into The Groove".
LIVE TO TELL
From the 1986 album "True Blue". One of Madonna's most beautiful and heartfelt ballads. I get the chills everytime I hear this song.
PAPA DON'T PREACH
From the 1986 album "True Blue". Another great song. Loved Madonna's anti-abortion message here.
OPEN YOUR HEART
From the 1986 album "True Blue". Still one of my all-time favorites, for it was the song that turned me into the huge Madonna fan I am, today.
LA ISLA BONITA
From the 1986 album "True Blue". Who can resist this song? Honestly. Another one of Madonna's all-time greatest.
LIKE A PRAYER
From the 1989 album "Like A Prayer". They always say, "A true classic never dies". They are right, indeed, for this song is a classic and a classic nevery dies.
EXPRESS YOURSELF
From the 1989 album "Like A Prayer". Another one of Madonna's timeless classics.
CHERISH
From the 1989 album "Like A Prayer". Awesome song.
VOGUE
From the
JUSTIFY MY LOVE
New song. The album's first single. It's obvious to us all that this song is about . . . SEX. Madonna, in her videos and live performances, has given us a very sexual side of her. But all of her past antics from 1983 up to before this point have been child's play compared what she displayed in this song's music video, which is why MTV and VH1 had to ban this video from any airplay. Because of the video being banned, Sire Records & Warner Bros. Records released this music video on the first-ever VHS Single. No matter what those big-mouthed critics say, this is a great song, with an awesome, creative video. No one can do a video, like this, any better than Madonna can.
RESCUE ME
New song. The album's second & final single. This awesome song describes Madonna's want & need to have dominance in the world, despite the fact that most people view her as a freak.
As you can see, this album covers Madonna's greatest of hits from 1983 to 1990. My only qualm with this album is the fact that some of her big hits, from this point in her career, are missing. Those hits are: "Who's That Girl", "Causing A Commotion", "Angel", "Dress You Up", "Everybody", "Burning Up", "True Blue", "Oh Father", & "Hanky Panky". Sure, if those missing hits were added to this collection, the album would've been a full two discs long, but at least all of her hits would've been here. But, either way, this album is a huge gem to own, especially if you are an extreme die-hard Madonna fan.
Love her or hate her, Madonna is part of the 80's
No 80's inspired party is complete with out her, so if you want a walk in memory lane, this is one for you. 80's pop would have not been the same without the material girl, and here you have her greatest hits all in one.
Immaculate conception, impeccable execution
The third quarter is a little lacking; the first half is unparalleled spiritual, sonic, physical ecstasy. Impressive on her albums, untouchable on her singles, so you make an album out of her singles and what do you get? The greatest pop record any human being will ever create. She gets feminist ("Express Yourself"), she gets political ("Papa Don't Preach"), she gets lyrical ("Material Girl"), we get excited, uplifted, cleansed, to live. My favorite twist of her tongue (wording that asks for trouble, considering the artist in question): "Romeo and Juliet/They never felt this way, I bet. ".
