Customer Reviews More of the Same Old Astro Man, But It Doesn't Sound Live!? If so, then they played live without an audience! To me it sounds like the typical MAN. One statement in the liner notes says this is a live album. . . OR ASTRO MAN? album. I was hoping to hear a bar full of fans shouting between songs, or some audience interaction, but there is none. It sounds like a studio album. As a studio album, it's okay. I like their indie/underground attitude, and their lack of lyrics and vocals makes them timeless. I can listen to them still, after so many years ago, even though I no longer listen to other artists from the mid-1990's anymore. The cheesey sci-fi influences are endearing, of course. The sound bites on this CD are mixed too low in volume, though. Their main weakness is the lack of variety or focus. All the songs blend into each other and sound like the other songs. The surf/punk stuff is cute and cool, but there is nothing to focus on, no standout songs to remember. It is more about the attitude and atmosphere than about any one particular song, in my opinion. Great Album Araratfinks, and of course Man or Astro-man? I saw these guys a few years back at the Foothill in Long Beach and have just got around to buying this album.
