the manic's appetite for destruction
this is a 5 star album packed with political lyrics and fuel raging riffs but i've only given this album four stars not for the content just because the us version has been censored just because the american musical market can't handle abit of conversity. just because the lyrics attack the big apple and the government they thought it was fit to take of 4 tracks
the better option would of put a parental advisory sticker
and let the abinding public make up there mind. . and not to be told it was too explict,
the american music radio stations and groups whom protest
about lyrical content. . are takin' censorship to far
i see that "methadone pretty" was removed
here's some of the lyrics

"i am nothin' and i should be everything you're methadone pretty surrender is pity international destruction germ eats your thoughts and makes you happy
they want a piece of your skin pump it safe than, than suicide methadone pretty methadone pretty"

a classic verse and chorus that shouldn't of been removed
but due to the censorship in america it's hard to make a statement without being slaughtered

this is the manic's at there finger flipping best
with the orignal co songwriter writin' some of their best lyrics Mr. Richie Edawards

REPEAT AFTER ME F**K QUEEN AND COUNTRY
I censored the swear word not to offend the naive minds
whom kiss too much a**
.

"Regard all Art Critics as Useless and Dangerous"
Provocative, while cunning with its numerous quotes from prominous artists(such as this review's title). Generation Terrorists is in-your-face rock n' roll.

Fortunately and unfortunately, the standard mix of this album desperately needs remastering. The US edition takes care of this for only four songs:

1- Slash N' Burn
2- NatWest-Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds
3- You Love Us
4- Little Baby Nothing

Note that the volume seems to have been cranked up for some other tracks such as "Stay Beautiful" and "Another Invented Disease", though otherwise those tracks sound the same as in the UK version.

The 18-track UK version does contain some fillers, though some tracks SHOULD have made it to US version: "So Dead", "Methadone Pretty", "Born to End" and the original intros of both "Crucifix Kiss" and "Love's Sweet Exile" [Which includes short poetry verses recited by Nicky Wire's brother, Patrick Jones].

Both US and UK versions though have the horrendous "Repeat (Stars and Stripes)". On the upside, the US version does not get "Damn Dog", which is utter crap. With "Lipstick Traces" now out, "Democracy Coma" needs not be on this album (though it is a very good track).

If you're just lost with all these versions, I suggest you buy the Japanese one, which includes "Motown Junk" and wait for a proper remaster of this fantastic album (i. e. like "The Holy Bible").

--------------------------------------------------------------
What I believe should have been done for the US version:

- Out: Tennessee, Democracy Coma, Repeat (Stars and Stripes)

- In: So Dead, Born to End, Methadone Pretty, the original intros to both "Crucifix Kiss" and Love's Sweet Exile"

This much better tracklist (IMHO) would have still fit on one CD:

1. Slash N' Burn
2. NatWest-Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds
3. Born to End
4. Motorcycle Emptiness
5. You Love Us
6. Love's Sweet Exile (w/original intro)
7. Little Baby Nothing
8. Another Invented Disease
9. Stay Beautiful
10. So Dead
11. Repeat (UK)
12. Crucifix Kiss (w/original intro)
13. Methadone Pretty
14. Condemned to Rock 'N' Roll

Now, let's just cross our fingers that Generation Terrorists gets remastered. It has been long overdue.

Terrorist for a generation
For me as I have a copy of the album, signed! Their are 4 songs on the album which have been remixed for American radio stations (Slash 'n' Burn, Natwest- Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds, Little Baby Nothing and You Love Us) and all the rest are the same sound as the 18-track U. This 14-track album is a valuable collectors item. K. release. Democracy Coma is in the middle of it all as well. The four songs that have been remixed can also be found on the Japanese release of Stars And Stripes, an 8-track C. D. with all four remixed songs. It lasts just under an hour and some good songs have been cut due to either the content or the song title
but it is stiil worth the listen and the hunt to find the proper 14-track album but if you do find the 14-tacker, it might be worth quite a bit. Mine only cost £15 but will cost even more in a few years as mine is signed by all of them except Richey. Unlike the U. K. release, this one has no quotes next to the songs in order to impress or something to do with it and has lyrics printed inside the booklet for all the songs. Both versions of Repeat are on, Motorcycle Emptiness, Condemened To Rock and Roll, Stay Beautiful, and if resources tell me (ie; fan sites) that was released as a single. So you can see that I really enjoy listening to it that i've gave it a five star, no matter what track listing it is!.
