Welcome Back! Fuzzy, loud guitars and a euphoric chorus are the calling cards of the Manics, and this single does them justice. "Found That Soul" is very much a return to the roots of the Manic Street Preachers. A pulsing, rythmic verse riff with that extra kick of distortion for the chorus. Not to mention a BLISTERING guitar solo, the likes which haven't been heard from James Dean Bradfield since "Faster" from the Holy Bible. A great song. . . the chorus will remind anybody who's ever been a fan why they were fans in the first.
And let's not forget the B-Sides. "Locust Valley" is excellent, easily worthy of A-side status (could have replaced Wattsville Blues). "Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel" isn't bad, but it is actually VERY reminicient of "Wattsville Blues" with Nicky taking a tone-deaf lead vocal stint backed by music that sounds like their cover of "Rock N' Roll Music. " As a single purchase, however, this CD is packed with value. Get it for "Locust Valley" alone. . . and Ballad isn't nearly as bad as "Wattsville" and is actually fairly funny when you listen to the lyrics. Best Manic's B-sides since the flip side of "If You Tolerate This. . " Worthy purhcase!.
Manics Are Back
Found That Soul is like the older style that i loved and the album that it is from is just as good as this single. The Manic Street Preachers have at last returned back to their roots. All Manic Street Preachers fans will like this cd and love the album. Excellent.
Manics Back To Basics
The single, Found That Soul is much stronger and fiercer than "So Why So Sad", the other cd from KYE. One of 2 new Singles from Manics' new CD, "Know Your Enemy", out 19th March in the UK. It is a return to the Holy Bible/Gold Against the Soul days for the band, and is very much welcome. The single is excellent, and a great taster for the album.
