Adrenaline With this album this music band did the best epic stile of all your songs.
Either you get it, or you don't..... Without pointing fingers or getting defensive about it, I'll simply say that either you really understand and respect what they are about, or you just don't get it. For one reason or another, some people just love to rip in Manowar.
"Kings of Metal" will always have a special place for real Manowar fans. This is largely due to the fact that it's the last record for co-founding member and lead guitarist Ross the Boss. Exactly why he left, I still don't know. However, I think a song like 'Pleasure Slave' might have been part of it. As much of a devoted fan of this band as I am, this has got to be the absolute worst song ever recorded. 'Pleasure Slave' sounds like a song that even Gene Simmons of Kiss would be embarrassed to play. It's listed as a "bonus track", but it's more of a "minus track", meaning you will want to make a cd copy of this record and omit this song.
The rest of this album is very good stuff though. Very hard-edged, classic style metal that serves as an excelent following to "Fighting the World", as well as a closing chapter to an era in the Manowar timeline. 'Sting of the Bumblebee' is an excelent bass solo version of the classic piece, 'Flight of the Bumblebee' which calls back to Manowar's first album when Joe Demaio did a version of the William Tell Overture. 'Heart of Steel' is my personal favorite. It embodies the spirit of what Manowar, and their music, is all about. Being outside of the norm. Being singled out. Being made an outcast. Many people have gone through that. I know I have. As the song states: "No matter where I stand, I'm . . . . . . . . alone. - Stand and Fight! Live by your heart. Always one more try. I'm not afraid to die!!!!" Again, either you get it, or you don't. It's hard for me to elaborate on the rest of the songs of this album simply because they all have a unified flavor to them in the tradition of Manowar's subject material. This IS a good thing, despite what others may say. In the end, if you liked "Fighting the World", it's safe to say that you can't miss with this one. Buy it, listen to it, skip over 'Pleasure Slave', and enjoy the last album recorded by a founding member of a band that stuck to their guns and fought to do things they way they wanted to. .
There's a song.. It talks about woman needing nothing more than to suck ManOwar. On here called Pleasure Slave. Muscles aside, any good music is seriously just undermined by that. I dug some of their stuff. I have their jacket, shirts. Racial crap on Violence and Bloodshed shrugged to but nomore. . Guess there venting. I'll listen to the album and see if I can change my mind. Had to delete good "Fighting the World review. Give it a shot, and see if they change. . Extra star given for "Defenders" on "fighting. ". . Could just be a venting.
