The Birth of True Metal
What a Great sound. I remember when this first came out on vinyl. The songs were very easy to like. DeMaio's writing is BRILLIANT!!! They have always released GREAT albums. ManOwaR is very true to their beliefs and have worked very hard, and it has certainly paid off. It is too bad that the United States does not recognize a true talented band that was born in the heart of upstate New York!

Impressive debut from Metal's Proudest Warriors.
The sound is not quite the one that it's fans are quite used to,echoing a mixture of the NWOBHM,Arena Rock(especially Ted Nugent on "Shell Shock")and it's own burgeoning sound of power and glory. One of the greatest and most Powerful debuts in Heavy Metal is this,Manowar's first Battle Hymn released in 1982. Chock full of classic favorites including there title cut,"Manowar",there first of many anthems to Metal in "Metal Daze" and the Orson Welles narrated classic of epic Metal on "Dark Avenger".
The greatest track and the one that may be the best of there career is the emotional epic,"Battle Hymn",which features terrific soling from one,"Ross the Boss" and one of the great vocal performances from Eric Adams.
Band leader,Joey Damaio also gets to flex his bass skills on the impressive instrumental,"William's Tale",which will become a regular fixture on many a classic Manowar record and certainly live.
This is one hell of a traditional Metal album and comes highly reccomended,even to those who have not "heard the call" yet. A must in your 80s Metal collection.


Awesome Metal!!
This was their first album unleashed to the world. ManOWar is the best of all Heavy Metal Bands. I recommend this to all ManOWar fans and any heavy metal fan! The guitar rifs and the beats are outstanding. Its no suprise as to why these guys hold the world record for the loudest concert in the world. .


BLOW YOUR SPEAKERS!
It was awesome to hear this for the first time today. Manowar's first and what a great album. Dark Avenger and Battle Hymn are terrific. I loved hearing the two songs that set the foundation of Manowar's triumphant sound. I love the other songs on the album as well. It has a great 80's sound that I enjoy. Hail To The Kings Of Metal!.

k. this is a great album and paved the way for a long list of metal bands that now sing about epic wars and vikings,the best songs of the album are(the album does not have any bad song anyway);metal daze,manowar, and the master piece battle hymn! this is true metal,so whimps and posers(a. a. fans of linkin crab and metallica)dont buy this album,for fans of real metal this is a great album to buy!.
