I like it!
PMG always makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, not in a scary freaky way, but in that 'someone running their finger down your spine' kinda way. It's distinctly different to "Playing My Game"; it still has her wonderful voice, but has a more polished or professional air to it. . . There is a lot of emotion in PMG, and there's a magnetic quality how it has just the right mix of folk, rock, pop, and raw talent versus perfection. PMG is, IMO, a very subtly powerful album emotionally. "Another Day" has perhaps more emphasis on the 'perfection' or 'polish' of the presentation - that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it is a wonderful album to listen to (but it doesn't quite have that same depth of feeling that PMG does). However Lene's voice is as magnificent as previously, but perhaps a little more restrained than PMG. Musically I think it has a more professional sound to it, but with glimpses of that raw fresh sound on PMG. It's a great album, but with more emphasis on that quality, that polish/perfection perhaps rather than raw emotion. I like it and have even bought the Music Video DVD of the album.

To sum up, like many artist's "second album's" I do feel there's a sense of needing to sound professional to justify the faith of the fans, etc, who made the first album a success, and hence an unconscious restraint to ensure the quality. BUT it's not as pronounced as with other artists and it's still a very good album with it's own sound. I suspect it may grow on me more with a couple more listens!

If I had to rate the two albums side by side I would give "Playing My Game" 5 out of 5 Stars, and "Another Day" 4. 5 out of 5 Stars (I've given it the full 5 here on Amazon). Two great albums by a great female musician & vocalist that I would recommend to all. If you really liked Lene on PMG, you really have to have this album.

Another Day DVD
I somehow lost the disc from its box and while I was ordering a replacement I came across a reference to a DVD made in 2003. I've loved Lene Marlin since her first album, only one song of which I've ever heard in Australia. I download a few of the clips on you tube and thought they were sensational. I got the disc and sat entranced as it played. The camera work is lovely and the quality is superb. I never tire of listening to Lene's voice. A+++.

cannot rip to put on zen
It's been in my cart for an age, but is so expensive from Amazon that I'd held off on purchasing. My husband purchased this cd for me for Christmas. So imagine my surprise when I popped it in the computer this afternoon to put the songs on my zen and discovered this particular disk is copy controlled. I can listen on my computer (quite imperfectly) or in my car cd player, but I can't listen to these songs while I exercise despite the fact that we paid upwards of $25 for what is billed as a CD, but really isn't. It's tempting to return it to amazon with a nasty note, but the music is quite good. I'll search out a friend with a Mac instead :-).

The quiet legend continues
Lene Marlin once again shows that she has invented a style of pop music that is impossible to be rivaled. A brilliant follow on from 'Playing My Game'.

This album will equally appeal to fans of her previous work. Personally, her original was slightly superior than this, but then this is already brilliant.

Highlights include most of the songs, but personally 'Whatever It Takes' and 'Disguise' are the standouts.

May she release a 3rd album soon. . . and continue this legend.

You cant avoid feel touched by Lene
Is so big the amount of inspiration , melancholy and beauty this Nordic singer/songwritter provides to every one of her creations that you gonna feel overwhelmed by this amazing sounds, both her voice and the music are plenty of incredible colors, mostly grey atmospheres are evident but in a precious way, cuts such as "faces" , "another day", "my love" (good one), "you werent there" seems to perfectly picture in your mind the frozen air of Norway and some sort of pretty sadness that is enjoyable for the listener , simple instrumentation but melodic and poetic lyrics are the main components for Lenes music
great album
HM .
