An AWESOME Debut
When this was released I was only 3 years old. I love this album. I didn't become a Richard Marx fan until I bought his greatest hits album in 2005. This is my most recent addition to my Richard Marx collection. Now, onto the album:
1. Should've Known Better - An awesome song to get things started. 5/5
2. Don't Mean Nothing - Aahhhh, smells like Richard. Love this bouncy tune, especially towards the end. 5/5
3. Endless Summer Nights - I love this song, perfect for walking along the beach or summer in general. Richard should've put Michael Jackson in his place with this song! Don't get me wrong, I do like Michael's music, but Richard is now at the #1 spot in my collection. 5/5
4. Lonely Heart - This song sounds like it should've been or could've been a minor hit back in 1987. A fun song to get down to. Just AWESOME!! 5/5
5. Hold On To The Nights - Aahh!! A ballad. I love how this song starts out soft and slowly gets louder and how the drums and guitar come in at the end. This song shows off Richard's vocal prowess. Love that raspy quality. He never expected this song to become a hit. He thought that due to the style of the other songs on the album and its position on the album it wouldn't be a hit. I guess he should've known better, but I'll cut him some slack. 5/5
The rest of the album is filled with non-hits, that just as awesome as the hits!
6. Have Mercy - Get ready to rock when this song comes on. This song is just AWESOME! I can't describe how awesome it is, just listen to it. 5/5
7. Remember Manhattan - Not one of my favorites but it's still up there with the rest of his hits. This isn't your average 23-year-old rock song. 5/5
8. The Flame Of Love - Richard says he hates this song, but this song should've been a hit. A middle-of-the-road song. 5/5
9. Rhythm Of Life - A fun song to put if you are at a party. This song has a lot of people on it including his father, Dick, his mother Ruth and his wife Cynthia Rhodes. Another AWESOME tune. 5/5
And finally he ends the album with:
10. Heaven Only Knows - Aahhh! Another song which sounds like it could've been a hit. Just heavenly. I can totally relate to the chorus, because I'm trying to find out what my purpose is myself. A great song which has the same strengths as "Endless Summer Nights" and "Hold On To The Nights" 5/5
Overall: 5/5 An AWESOME debut. Love the album photo. He shows himself to be a tough guy, but also shows himself to be vulnerable at the same time. I would use a similar look if I got a record deal and released my first album. Totally, AWESOME!!
.
Soulful, inspiring, and thought-provoking
" I wanted to find out who sang the song so I did a search on Google. I remember being at Buster's a few months back and hearing the bar band's cover of "Right Here Waiting. Found out that a "Richard Marx" sang the song. So, I picked up "Repeat Offender" and "Rush Street" in a two pack. Little did I know that I was in for a treat.
For a debut album it was awesome. . . though Bob Dylan is my favorite musical artist ever, not even he did as well during his first album. Songs like "Endless Summer Nights," "Have Mercy" and "Heaven Only Knows" are absolute gemstones. Though "Right Here Waiting" is my absolute favorite Richard Marx song, there are plenty of gems right here. Completely recommended.
PURE RICHARD MARX
MONEY BACK GURANTEE by AMAZON if you are not fully satisfied would ve been a good idea for this album and you would find no returns for the Richard marx album each song is a gem if you have a girl on your mind this is the album if you havent this Richard marx will be your inspiration songs like ENDLESS SUMMER NIGHTS , HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS and HOLD ON TO THE NIGHTS are my favorite songs from this timeless classic album .
One of his BEST!
Also I thought that these facts were interesting:
- Over 30 million records sold
- Writer of Eleven #1 songs
- Nineteen Top 20 Singles as an Artist, including SEVEN #1 HITS
- 2004 Grammy Song of the Year Winner, with Luther Vandross, for "Dance With My Father"
. I just bought this cd because I heard the song "Endless Summer Nights" in a movie and remembered what a great song it was and how much I LOVED this cd (Which of course I had on cassette).
