Not much voice left I don't dispute this. There's no doubt that Richard Marx has written some of the most memorable songs in the pop repertoire. I also believe Mr. Marx used to possess one of the most versatile, powerful and beautiful voices being recorded. I find it incredulous that so many of the other reviewers are still applauding his raw and raspy voice with words of phrases such as "pure," stronger than ever or that his voice is only getting better with age. It produces the same anger I feel when listening to later Joni Mitchell. She can now barely force enough air through her larynx to make a recognizable note. They're also similar in their attempts to convince themselves that their current instruments are better. Richard Marx's voice used to be pure and powerful when singing an up-tempo song or pure and gentle when singing a love ballad. It's just so frustrating that artists with incredible voices are not taking care and are sacrificing their beautiful sounds.
Richard Marx - My Own Best Enemy CD
It's great and it came in great time. I love this CD SO much! I love Richard Marx and I needed that CD to complete my collection of all his albums. Thank you! .
The beginning of obsession
Although a very big fan of his younger work, I did not know he was releasing newer music until I looked it up curiously online. This album marked the beginning of my Richard Marx obsession. I had all the albums up to Paid Vacation, but had stopped paying attention after that. When I bought this album, I completely fell in love with Richard Marx all over again. It is a brilliant heart-felt album, with soulful upbeat songs. I since have bought his other two great albums, Flesh and Bone and Days in Avalon. This album is poetic, artful, and beautiful, and it will now rank as one of my favorite albums of all time. Truly, it solidified me as a Richard Marx fan now and forever.
Big Fan of Richard!
Not a disappointment. This album is great. It had been too long for some new music! I'll be playing it over and over again for a long time.
its the same ole richard
i like this cd because it has the hard driving force and guitar ruffs he had in his last cds
which means he doesn't have to change a thing to make a great new cd .
