He is truly an American original. I have been listening to Delbert since 1972. It simply does not get better then this guy. Go back through the last thirty years and listen to him. His range and talent is amazing. Lord knows he's one of a kind. And this is coming from Arizona, where we hate to give Texas credit for anything!

I will always track this dude down when he comes to Phoenix and watch him shout out the songs that only he can do about losing some of life's battles.
And once in a while I dream about a trip to california with a beautifull gal and losing her there. Except it was Vermont, and it was two bottles of Kestlers blended bourbon!

The Lubbock, Texas belter of all things blues, RNB, and country has deservedly been given the "Ultimate" package treatment by retro-specialist label HIP-O. Betwixt playing harmonica on early 60's Bruce Channel classic HEY BABY, giving John Lennon a lesson or two on said instrument, having his compositions covered by everyone from Emmylou Harris (TWO MORE BOTTLES OF WINE) to the Blues Brothers (B-MOVIE BOX CAR BLUES) to Vince Gill (VICTIM OF LIFE'S CIRCUMSTANCES), scoring his own Top 40 hit GIVIN' IT UP FOR YOUR LOVE, recording for predominant blues label Alligator (and scores of others), and winning a Grammy for a duet with Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton has seen it, done it, and sung it all. Here are eighteen tasty as BAR-B-Q tracks of honky tonk sweat shouted out in the world weary rasp of a thousand smoke filled roadhouses. These meaty slabs of soul include IT AIN'T WHAT YOU EAT BUT THE WAY HOW YOU CHEW IT, THE JEALOUS KIND, LOVE RUSTLER, and patented takes on the afore mentioned hits for others. Like John Hiatt, Delbert McClinton may still not be a household name after lo' these many eons, but true relishers of raw roots music will always know where to go for a satisfying fix. Best of Delbert
Great music with rockin' sound. If you like Texas Twang this one is for you. Delberts history with other musicians thru the years is unbelievable but after you hear his music you can believe. The guy the taught John Lennon to play harmonica. Country rock at its best.

I personally don't like country music, but, this ws for my brother and he really enjoys this CD.


It Is the ULTIMATE COLLECTION
I had never even heard of Delbert or Bonnie until I met my husband. I love this albumn! I bought if for my husband (who is far from [anti-women]), he's a big fan of Delbert McClinton and Bonnie Raitt. I'm just glad he introduced me to a genere of music I have come to love and appreiciate. There is nothing any more [anti-women]), about Delbert McClinton than any other music genere. If you don't like it don't listen but, obviously someone isn't appreciating these songs as a whole, the beat and rhythm is awesome. I can't listen to this album and just sit still . My house cleaning gets done when I put this album on, it just makes you want to get up and move. My favorite song on the collection is Love Rustler! I'd like to think at some point in my younger days I may have been someones secret Love Rustler. ;) I personally think Delbert is giving nothing but a big compliment to women and I for one take it as such.
