my review of great music
I recently saw him in the US with Willie Nelson & Bob dylan. This is the first John Mellencamp album I have purchased. His performance was powerful. This album is in the same stream as his live performance. The songs are powerful, about life & about America. John's band is powerful & they heighten the quality of the songs. A great album!.

A No-Brainer
If you like John Cougar Mellencamp buy this disc! All hits here. I'm going to keep this real simple here.

excellent songs on CD
This was when he was at the top of his songwriting and performing game. Very good selection of John Cougar Mellencamp's songs through out this ten year span. Would highly recommend.

The Best That I Could Do
His songs give insight into small town farming communities, teenage angst, divorce, dringking, and on and on. John Mellencamp sing from the heart about the heartland of our country. He lives in the land where he sings about, so he's not some transplant who has the outsider's view of mid-America.

These songs on this collection are his greatest hits. Every one of them has received airplay on popular and rock radio stations. Mellencamp is not one of those artists with two or three bonafide hits and seven songs no one has ever heard of on a greats hits album. His songs are genuine and belong on such a collection. Ideally there should be a box set that allows some of the B sides of songs to get some renewed exposure to a greater audience.

This collection is very good and will leave you humming one or two of the songs throughout the day.

great cd, brings back memories!!!
you can listen to it over and over again, would recommend to any mellencamp fan or any 80"s fan. it is rare that you find a cd that you like every track on it, this is the rare exception, this is a great cd.
