Masters Of MountainGreat album, when you're in the mood for heavy sounds, great recording quality as well, and playing Dylan as a sort of tribute makes this the best Leslie and Corkey have done in some time, I love those songs and they're take on em are really something, once in a while Ill blast it.
mountain does tribute to dylan, way heavier.
leslie is a better guitarist than ever,he can riff out, big time. this is very good. this cd should appeal to anybody who likes hard rock. its better than i expected. the sound quality is first class. also the track with ozzy is very good. if you like this check out his cds, that are blues solo projects. they are done very well, and great singing and guitar playing. this one may be dylan songs, but done really heavy, i have to say i was very impressed. i like dylan alot, but it was nice to have a cd with a different take on his music. and leslie west, his guitar playing has improved over the years. he was really good in the past, but way better now, experienced musician.
One trick pony
The interplay between Leslie's guitar and Felix's bass is the stuff of legend. Let me start by stating I loved the original Mountain. They were also two different vocalists. Felix had that high, soft quiver and Leslie was the rock and roll screamer. I still play the hell out of their original albums. I always felt that Corky was the weak link as his drumming was average and pedantic. How Jack Bruce ever stomached playing with him (after sharing the rhythm section with Ginger Baker, I'll never know. ) Now that Felix is in heaven, Leslie and Corky plod along and release a new "Mountain" CD/DVD every few years.
This CD is a real stinker. Almost every song sounds like it was done by Spinal Tap-a parody of the metal genre. Leslie screams and Corky piddles with his hi-hat and cowbell. The worst cut is "Like A Rolling Stone" which is a rap done over a drum solo. Hard to believe? Leslie and Corky, if you are going to put out this type of claptrap, please retire the Mountain name and let Felix rest in peace.
Mountain does Dylan
Makes a great Chanukkah present. 0ne Jew pays tribute to another Jew. What's next. . . Mississippi Yenta?.
Some Hits, Some Misses
Some adaptations work and some don't, which is probably how it should be. Just the idea of a band like Mountain doing an all Bob Dylan album is pretty cool. Buy this for the good stuff.
