So, I was reading some old one star reviews of this album...
Telling people to listen to Spineshank instead? Wow. and realized that there are a bunch of old reviewers who probably want to punch themselves in the face now. That's hilarious.

This album rocks. It's both primal, and yet has complicated time signatures. Thats hard to pull off. The drums, bass, guitar, and vocals are all stellar for this genre. And as for all the Slipknot comparisons? Well, there's a reason why
Shawn has a producing credit.

Maybe all the people who gave this thing a negative review when it came out have grown up enough to realize just how ignorant they were.


Mudvayne is on the fast track to the next Metallica-like tragedy
This album was so far ahead of its time and it's a shame that these guys haven't written anything even close since 2001. Man, what happened to these guys? Every time I listen to this album, I'm just blown away. I accept that they're a completely different band now and that it's what they enjoy, but that doesn't detract from the fact that I wish they could do something like L. D. 50 all over again.

Sadly, it seems like we've got another Metallica on our hands with these guys in that - maybe one day - they'll release something that attempts to reach back to their roots. . . but by then, I'm afraid the magic will be long-gone and it will come off as nothing more than a novelty.

This album isn't everyone's cup of tea, but L. D. 50 stands as a prime example of proving that the term, "Nu Metal" is BS and nothing more than a way for musically inept people to classify remotely-heavy bands they don't like who happen to have come out in the past 10 years. There's nothing in Disturbed that sounds anything like Korn nor anything in Mudvayne that sounds anything like the 2 prior. . . much less Limp Bizkit. I suppose the Slipknot comparison is only slightly more understandable, but here again, how the he11 do people justify classifying bands like Limp Bizkit and Mudvayne in the same genre!? Stupid.

Ranting aside, there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said about this album in the previous 250+ 5-star reviews. All I can say is if the term, "Nu Metal" makes you cringe, then don't even waste your time with this, because you're automatically going to classify it as such. If - by chance - you have no idea what, "Nu Metal" even means, pick this album up and you'll be none-the-wiser that this is falsely-labeled anything other than what it REALLY is: Solid, groove-laden and thinking-man's heavy metal.


best mudvayne album for the metalheads.
For those with softer tastes in music find something else. if you enjoy heavy metal and not just hard rock, it is a great album.


NU METAL?
This album is pretty heavy for a nu metal album it's really awesome and if you like heavy music then get this,but like i said this is the only nu metal album by them just cause they are called nu metal doesn't mean they are. Well yes this album is nu metal well at least some songs cause if you say that mudvayne's two later releases are nu metal well your wrong. The end of all things to come is heavy alternative metal,proggresive and not nu metal and same with lost and found. Trust me if there's someone who hates nu metal is me but mudvayne HAS a nu metal record but is not a nu metal band and even though this album is i still like it cause is like the heaviest they've done. But their second album probably has more heavy sounds so maybe that's the heaviest only the screams might be louder in L. D. 50. So this album is NU metal(ugh!)and math metal but pretty HEAVY!.


GREATEST ALBUM EVER!!!
There is so much random things hidden in this album also that make it an even more intriguing album, for example the chemical components on the inside folds of the booklet are all major chemicals used in making LSD. This is my all time favorite album!!! All the songs on it are amazing. Which plays a huge role in this album whether it be the chemical components, the 14th track titled Pharmaecopia entirely based on drugs and the effects of hallucinogens or the spoken words of Terence McKenna
(the creator of LSD) on the track Monolith explaining his theory of evolution and how humans evolved from apes by eating hallucinogenic mushrooms. The album art also features the Sephirot of Hermetic mysticism inside the booklet. The album is strongly influenced by Skinny Puppy and believe it or not 2001: A Space Odessy (in which the band actualy takes time to thank the movie). The music is amazing with the off tempo jazz influenced bass riffs, math metal drum beats, screaming guitar riffs and the beauty and brutality of front man Chad Gray's (or Kud as he goes by in this album) vocals and lyrics. All I can say is get it and lose yourself in it, I did. I literaly listened to it for over a year as the ONLY album I would listen to if it ended i would start it over so if that doesn't help sway your choice nothing will!!!
