Underestimated However, the vocals, lyrics and musical composure of the band are on display on this album in a very powerful and moving. Often those into the "cool" indie music will give little attention to Nada Surf, most likely because of that fantastic but somewhat juvenille song 'Popular'. Most people i've introduced to it, find themselves listening again and again to the songs as they absorb the inticate weave of melody, mood and guitar riffs.
Splendid
"Blonde On Blonde," "Blizzard of ' 77," " Killian's Red" et al are just ear candy hard pop - honey with just enough whisky smoke kick to make it memorable. This recording is a gem - splendid and sultry from beginning to end. "Fruit Fly" is icing. Get it. Let go. Play to end. Start over.
I highly recommend the Nada Surf NPR All Song's Considered Concert podcast from earlier this year. That one is free. . . . has a lot of these tunes.
One of my absolute favorite albums...
It will leave you saying, "I'm glad I listened to that". It's catchy, it's fun, it's indie! This is the greatest album for a long drive! Every song is great, of course some are better than others, but there is not one bad song. Seriously if you don't own this, do your self a favor and go buy it!.
A gem
I found an album I totally loved and that I can listen to over and over again. Having bought The Weight is a Gift and loving it I decided to buy Let Go and listen to it. Each time I listen to it I enjoy it even more. I love all the songs, but my favorite songs have become Paper Boats and Blonde on Blonde. These songs (both the lyrics and music) are incredibly beautiful and Nada Surfs voices superb. Let Go seems to be about the ups and downs of relationships while The Weight is a Gift is all about the ascendany of love. The only thing I might say about this album that could have been improved upon is that the song that is in French should have been translated on the CD liner. .
Great CD
Also no surprises in payment and address info. Delivery was quickewr than expected although I live in a remote part of Italy. Good work.
