Good album but not their best
All-in-all, not their best. There are a few great songs on here and the rest seem to be filler. I prefer the vocals more on Let Go, which in my opinion, is the best Nada Surf album. Sometimes he does this strange thing with vocals, kinda pitchy type of thing, which occurs alot on this album.

Experimenting a Bit, but Still the Nada Surf We Love
Vocalist/Guitarist Matthew Caws, Drummer/Back-up Vocalist Ira Elliot along with Bassist/Back-up Vocalist Daniel Lorca, all share the credit for writing all of the ten songs. Nada Surf established themselves in the alternative rock music world with the first long-ago hit release "Popular" from the High/Low album back in 1996 and with this album they are still going strong. They had respectable producer John Goodmanson (Death Cab For Cutie, Sleater-Kinney) co-produce the album with them. This album unlike their previous release of Let Go, isn't for the broken-hearted, it has a deeper vibe within the lyrics, but the same melodic, tight, dreamy rock way.

Lucky has songs like "Here Goes Something" and "Fox" which slightly changes Nada Surf's style, but luckily not to far away from the style we've come to know and love. It's still in the Nada Surf sound, except now they are experimenting more musically. The album opens with "See These Bones", which has great counter melodies and is five minutes long. "Are You Lightening" is another stand-out track in the same vein of great pop alternative rock that you are use to hearing from Nada Surf. I definitely recommend this album.

TIME IS TIGHT!
It goes into some nice sonics, harmony, and intelligent (sometimes almost sweet) vocals. This is another fine album by this hard working band. I saw the band in Minneapolis with THIS TOUR, and can only stress that this band is as tight as any I have ever heard. It's obvious they enjoy their music and so do I. Buy this and you will not be disappointed. It's actually a (dare I say) very pretty album?!! Your parents may like it too. I am 62 and I grove to it! GREAT BAND--they deserve a bigger following!.
