Willie Nelson blast from the past
I love listening to Willie Nelson on this, because he has a very soothing voice. Listening to this took me WAY back to my childhood, back when my family was happy and only slightly dysfunctional! LoL. .

my favorite of all time
I had it on cassette for years, and against my own 'rules' not to replace a perfectly good tape with a CD, I did, and gave a daughter-in-law the tape, as that is what she has in her car. This a really old recording of Willie's, but as far as I am concerned, one of his best collections of songs. A great 'sing along' selection of music.

Always Has Been On My Mind
There he performed the title song of this album. I am not normally someone inclined towards country music but Willie Nelson's music has been part of my life as far back as I can remember and I saw him in concert with my family in my teens. I found this CD brand new at the Goodwill of all places today and decided, since I have nothing close to country in my collection Willie Nelson sounded like an ideal choice to fill that void since I'm most familiar with his stuff. What this album presents are 11 Nashville-style "countrypoliton" style ballads-mostly covers as only Willie could do them. My favorites are his versions of "A Whiter Shade Of Pale",Aretha's "Do Right Woman,Do Right Man" and the way Willie transforms the theatrics of the original "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and gave it more of a down to earth pleading style. The album ends with "The Party's Over" that picks up the pace a little. But overall this album sounds great (anything Chip Moman produces always does) and this is something you can chill to,sing to and relax to. And there's something about it,even though it was recorded in 1982 that many generations of country and pop lovers can enjoy too. And that is something not always too easy to achieve.

Gotta love it!
You can infer from the track list that it is pop done up Willie style, but that is not a bad thing. This is a great album! I just listened to it for the first time. They are all good songs, and this reissue has two bonus tracks that are also excellent. I've seen reviews of this that say it's one of his weaker efforts, but I disagree. (Glad I didn't listen to them!) The arrangements have variety, and are always tasteful and not overdone. The musical details are interesting. Another plus is the backing vocal by Toni Wine (of girl group fame) on "Permanently Lonely. " If you like pop with great tunes and a sincere heartfelt message, you will love this CD.

An all time favorite
It's more mellow pop than it is country. This is a CD I've been listening to for the last 20 years and I've never gotten tired of it. Willie's voice is clear as a bell and the quality of the recording is amazing -- crisp and sharp with every instrument defined and audible.

"Always on My Mind" is, of course, one of the best known love songs of the 20th century. Almost as good are two other songs on the CD: "Old Fords and Natural Stone" and a song with a clever hook, "The last thing I needed the first thing this morning (was to have you walk out on me). " Most of the other songs are covers Willie performs adequately, if not with inspiration. But the three great songs on this CD put it in the must-have category. .
