American Classic by Willie NelsonIt was a very good album and Willie does a good job on all of the songs.
Great CD
The thing that I love about Willie is he is never afraid to take a chance and do something different. . and who always wants to hear the same thing from an artist all the time anyway. . . . I am so happy that he decided to make this cd. . . It's so totally different than his last cd which I also loved, and that's the nice thing about variety. . . . He did a great job on these standards. . . . Great job Willie!!!!!! Thank you.
Everything I hoped it would be
And when he teams with Diana Krall on one and Nora Jones on another, it's magical.
The old master is a master at delivering the goods on these classic romantic songs. There's something about that little quiver in his voice and his always-unique delivery that is perfect for this genre. .
there's only one willie
com, thank's to willie an amazon for there product's, regard's Thomas Buckley. another great singer of mine, I just love willie and buy most of his album's, again this album was bought from amazon.
American Classic/Stardust comparison
I was told that it was a follow-up album to his "Stardust" smash album from 1978 which is fantastic. Being a huge fan of Willie Nelson's I was excited when I first heard 'American Classic' being played as background music at a 'Barnes & Noble' store I was in. So I purchased both on CD here at 'amazon'
In comparing the two, 'American Classic' lacks the acoustic guitar treatment that Willie played on 'Stardust' and sounds more like a "Tony Bennett" album with it's lush, full arrangements. The songs he picked to do are all good, with "On the street where you live" and "Since I fell for You" being the best tracks in my opinion. I'd say in conclusion that 'Stardust' is the better of the two albums, yet they're both great to play back to back if you're a true fan.
