Customer Reviews Awesome Most often, even with most so-called "new country" artists, the music is cheesy and overproduced. Mike Ness is one of the few people who can pull off convering old country songs and make it sound good. On this recording, the old school, raw and earthy sound of country is alive and kicking. Ness has the right voice for it too, with his natural nasal twang. The guitar work here is down and dirty country and rockabilly too. This is real, authentic, roadhouse country music. . Country pickin at its finest There are no disappointments here. Classic ness voice covering some old country favorites, if you are interested in this cd you probably know what its about. Respect It is a little different after being accustomed to Social Distortion albums, but listen to the music and don't focus on the genre. A must have for any real Social D and Mike Ness fan. I'm a fan of many types of music, a huge fan of Johnny Cash, and I am always glad to see someone follow their heart instead of what is popular. "Under the Influences" is a testimony to those who came before us, so don't buy it expecting that Social D edge. Buy it because you want to hear some good classic songs sung by a legend. . .
