The Good Times
I always laugh when people talk about Outlaw Country or country rock being someting new Kris, Willie Waylon, New Riders Eagles Flying Burrito Bros. I was way under age,Half breed American Indian father had just retired from the Army, I was wild as they came, fake ID 47 Indian (motorcycle) my old man on a harley, we kicked around the music scene for years, I think I was one of the few females doing electrical and sound work, ended up a computer engineer when I finally settled down, Still got one foot over that line tho. . We had it all WE SAW IT's BIRTH. Those people missed the best of it, and I got to live it. Still in contact with some of the old crowd. Never regreted a thing. Put this on and let it take you back.

Riders in the Prime
We used to listen to it day in and day out. Was lucky to have seen the Riders starting in 71' on and this was the classic album from them. Powerglide is great too. This recording should stand up to any of that era and in any era for that matter. A must have for the Dead/Riders fans and even some non fans. Got all the classics from their pre-73' days. One after another of great country rock songs with Jerry playing along to Marmadukes great vocals. Gotta have!!.

NRPS best, but the others do it better
Solid musicians and long-time Dead collaborators, NRPS play well on this disc, and the steel guitar contributions from Jerry Garcia really shine, especially his super-trippy solo on "Dirty Business. A fairly solid example of early '70s country-tinged rock, New Riders of the Purple Sage is this band's best best work, and vastly better than their well-known-but-dreadful "Panama Red" album. " Unfortunately, NRPS never had the knack for writing songs that did the Dead, and most of them haven't really stood the test of time. This a good disc for NRPS fans or serious country rock collectors, but most would probably be better served by the Grateful Dead's far-superior "Workingman's Dead" or "American Beauty," or any of Gram Parson's work.
