Newsboys! Love them!
Newsboys are just great! Their concerts are unbelievable!
GO is one of my fav albums but this one is catching up!
Their testimonies to God and singing praises to Him is so uplifting!.

Great fast-paced music with an Australian kick
I like the positive message, the fast dance-clubish beat, and the in-your-face lyrics. I originally had this album on cassette, but recently bought the CD because I love it so much.

It's a really great album to listen to as you work out or walk. I recommend this and many other Newsboys albums. Not Ashamed.

It's the Newsboys.....
so any review from me is going to be slated by my stand behind my favorite group. With me-It's basically-I will never dislike anything these guys do. As a Christian they are my brothers and teir music has inspired me in ways that only God will reveal some day.

Not Ashamed - Not Bad
I am not really a fan of CCM, I find most of it derivative and uninspiring. I bought Not Ashamed for my kids actually, but I previewed some of their songs before doing so. With the exception of some of the 70s, early 80s artists (Randy Stonehill, Larry Norman, Keith Green, DeGarmo & Key, e. g. ), Christian artists are quite homogenous, as if style was an affront to the Almighty. I understand this thinking, however, I think it is somewhat misled.

The Newsboys impressed me, though, with a unique style that tends toward formulaic at times, but still fulfills its purpose to proclaim the Message in a trendy, up-pop, almost dance-groove way. It is a true alternative to the whispery-soft singers of Christian radio.

Listening to Not Ashamed, I can get whiffs of the 80s British synth invasion ala New Order, maybe even a little Cure. But their sound isn't dated, just influenced. Lyrically speaking, I think they are good - not excellent; these aren't lyrics that will grab you and poetically explode in your mind. They aren't horrible or milquetoast either, at least when I can hear them. Enunciation or clarity seem to be lacking at times.

I recommend this CD to anyone who wonders where the good contemporary Christian music has gone.

Andre
My long time favorite song is "I'm Not Ashamed" (hence the name of the album). This album is totally awesome! This is by far my personal favorite Newsboy album, 80's style, alive with keyboard and bass guitar. I also like "Dear Shame", "We come Together", "Strong Love", "Love Comes True", and "Boycott Hell". The rest of the songs are cool as well. The only complaint I have about this album is the absence of a guitarist. Too bad Jonathan Geange, a former member, returned to the band late. Although Dave Perkins, an additional musician, was there. Good thing there are many guitarists in the world. I think you would really like this album. Check it out!.
