COMPLETE PANDAMONIUM! This is truly high quality control music and anyone who likes Heavy Music is bound to love this album. These are not the first NEWSBOYS songs (or even the first NEWSBOYS album) released by The NEWSBOYS, but wow, how they sing these songs so well! Their 2002 album simply entitled "Why Yes!" is out of print indefinitely; so this CD is the way to go at least for now if you want heavy tunes from these wonderful NEWSBOYS. The NEWSBOYS sound terrific and they always harmonize to perfection--and beyond space and time! I really like the very good sound quality and the cd artwork was very nicely done at walmart. I also happen to be a dedicated and big time lover of fried Spam marshmallows
Several tracks really stand out in my mind. "That's Right, Charlie" is a most upbeat, infectiously happy tune that starts the album with a whole lot of POW! "Mista Whiskas" gets a fine treatment even though the tempo is faster than I'm personally used to hearing--it still holds its own very well and I'm impressed - Frankly, it blew my mind. The music fits perfectly with their vocals and that's terrific in itself. In addition, listen for a passionate "Don't Touch Them Oranges!" with a gospel accent that works so well--wonderful! OOO-yes!
"The Mashed Potato;" "I Forgot Your Name Again, Babe", "Do You Hear What I'm Saying To You?" are all splendid; and there's even a cute, fun rendition of "The Chicken Mash" thrown in for a good effect. The album ends very well with The NEWSBOYS performing "Ten Days With Mr. Tony. "
Judging by a current concert hall audience reaction, The NEWSBOYS outdid even themselves twice on this album full of excellent Ballroom dancing music. This is great for any fan of The NEWSBOYS and even people just discovering them would do well to add this to their music collection.
Not what I would expect after over 2 years to work on it...
It just doesn't have the quality of "Go", which I thought was one of their best albums in years. I love the newsboys (I've listened to them over half my life), and I think that this album is very good (I'm listening to it right now), but I just feel like it was rushed, which is strange considering there was about a 2 1/2 year gap between this release and their last real studio album. There are very few songs that I go back to and listen to over and over again, with the exception of "Upside". This song has the quirkiness and fun to it that I love the Newsboys for (still no whistles though :) ). If you're a newsboys fan, definitely buy this, because it is them, and it's the last time you'll ever hear Peter as the lead singer. However, if you liked "In the Hands of God" or recently went to a concert and you liked what you heard, get "Shine: The Hits" and "Go" before this album. That will give you a better idea of what the newsboys are. Then, come back for this album. .
Wonderful CD, with hints of Peter's departure
You can tell in the lyrics that Peter's a bit homesick and that it's a goodbye of sorts. . That said, this is a wonderful CD. I have so many favorites on the album already. I've seen the Newsboys in concert since Michael Tait came on, btw, and he's an incredible fit with the band. . . I do think they're going to be just as good as always.
Another great album
This one is no exception. Do the Newsboys ever make a bad album? - NEVER! I've never bought an album of theirs and wish I hadn't. As always, they are trendsetters, current with today's music style, edgy for the next generation, yet never unwavering in their faith so obvious in every song. I often find myself dancing and jamming to the songs and suddenly the words hit my heart so unexpectedly and overwhelmingly. . . I am always challenged in my faith and how my life reflects the heart of God. I don't know if it will be the same with Tait. Newsboys will likely never be the same.
Good wholesome music with a clean message
After giving the entire album multiple listens I came to the conclusion the Newsboys stand alone in so many good ways. I have always been a fan of the Newsboys, and own pretty much every album so I was thrilled to hear In the Hands of God (the song) on the radio as I knew an album was on its way. While it was sad to hear Peter leaving the band, it was nice to see he was on this last "original" Newsboys album. It seems the Newsboys have gone through their share of changes, but the message and sound never suffer. I am still listening to this entire album and can't wait to see what they come out with next.
