Stand back--far below wild, it's docile at best
Solo, she's an arena-rock diva immersed in self-regard. In Fleetwood Mac, she's the visionary queen of imagistic heartbreak. This one proves it. Her songs drone on like tattered fabric held up by fairy-tale lyrics too focused on magical archetypes to realize the emotional core that makes those archetypes so fantastic. "Stand Back" is too catchy; attribute that to Prince's synth line. Important lyrics: "Don't blame it on me, blame it on my wild heart"--well, okay; "No one knows how I feel/What I say unless you read between my lines"--no s**t.

I love the instruments playing in this song. I love the song Nightbird. And I love the cd and the harmonies. .

If you loved her voice in Fleetwood Mac you will like her solo music as well.

her very best
by 81 i was still a huge mac head but new wave was what i loved the most so BELLA DONNA was just ok at that time for me(she wrote the bulk of the album in 75 when eagles country rock was where it was at). when i heard the first line of ''rhiannon'' back in 75 i knew i heard the voice that would haunt me for the rest of my life. in 83 i was all over the synthed out wonderment of THE WILD HEART. ''nightbird'' is heartbreaking. even more heartrbreaking is''beauty and the beast'' classical in sound and classic as a song. ''i will run to you'' another great tom petty duet is not a fave for some but i think tom tapped into stevie's lyrical sympathies and i love to sing along to them. ''enchanted'' a nifty rocker. ''if anyone falls'' and '' sable on blond'' melodic masterpieces. ''stand back'' a fun dance hit. and as many of her songs the rest would grow in meaning thru repeated listenings. it stands as her best most cohesive collection ever. she may not agree because critics and some fans dont agree but this cd i would protect over any of my 4000 others. the only thing: horribly mastered. her record company doesnt seem to be in any hurry to reissue remaster and add bonuses to her eighties work with fleetwood mac or on her own and its a shame. you can find this cheap whether on amazon or cut out bins. if youre a casual fan you must check it out , if youre not. still.
