Very good come back album One of the favorite concerts of theirs I saw was an outdoor show in the middle of downtown Minneapolis a few years ago. I've been a Ranger fan since the instant I heard Don't Tell Me You love Me on the radio for the first time. It was very cool to hear them echo through the streets and buildings.
I bought this album when it came out, and I kinda expected it to be just so-so, but was pleasantly surprised and happy to hear the opening ripping tune. And the rest was pretty good too, its a CD I can put in and listen to all the way through easily. Their first album is still my favorite, but this one is pretty good.
Good musicanship still matters for them.
With all its original members intact, which helps, every song is a plus. To my knowledge Night Ranger has reformed to put out a few decent albums and Seven is one of them. They may not have any rocker hits like during there 80's heydays but nonetheless not a bad effort. I would reccommend this. .
There are Night Ranger fans that DON'T like this CD????
There are some great songs here that stand up and alongside anything from their earlier works. I find that amazing. No, not every song here is the best they've ever done, but there is a lot here to like.
And face it: Night Ranger has always been a fun-sing-along rocking band. And that for the most part is what you get here.
And it SOUNDS GREAT! Especially the drums which were tinked with way too much on "Man In Motion. "
And as for the really negative reviews here. . . wow.
1. SIGN OF THE TIMES is a great opener. Blam blam blam!
2. JANE'S INTERLUDE Quirks me as it's a short instrumental prelude to. . .
3. PANIC IN JANE: Which is a so-so rocker
4. DON'T ASK ME WHY: Is a fair ballad
5. KONG: is a "What Is This/Where Did This Come From?" fantastic rocker. And it's hilarious.
6. MOTHER MAYHEM: Gets the skip. The weakest track on the CD
7. SOUL SURVIVOR: Is so-so.
8. SEA OF LOVE: Is great. Great hook.
9. PEACE SIGN: A riot! My favorite song here.
10. WHEN I CALL ON YOU: Too draggy. . . gets the skip
11. REVELATION: Love it!
I would add at least 6 songs from here too my Ultimate NR fav's CD. .
Worst Night Ranger ever
No catchy tunes, no fun lyrics, no pizazz, no fun. True Night Ranger fans, those who have all of their albums like myself, will not find this one as good as their others. Don't waste your money. Buy anything but this one.
AWESOME!!!
I don't know how I missed this when it came out in 1998, I just got it this year (2005) and I am blown away. If you like Night Ranger and you like great Rock & Roll then get this CD. Yes, it is not like the earlier stuff, but it is their BEST release to date. Not one bad tune on this CD. I don't know how anyone could not love this CD, but everybody has their own opinion, and if I could rate it higher than a 5, I would. By the way, I have all the other Night Ranger Cds ever since they started out back in 1982. .
