Get Shiny New Album If you love great music and well-crafted songs, it comes highly recommended. John Hampson released a solo album "Shiny New Album" that is really FANTASTIC.

The Madding Crowd- Nine Days
The music is very good, consistent without being boring and sounding the same. This was a great CD. Each song was interesting on its own, but cohesive with the CD. Although most of the songs were not as well known as their most famous "Absolutely"- story of a girl song, they were all very good. I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone that enjoys music such as the Fray, We the Kings, Jimmy Eat World, One Republic etc.
First Class Musicians - They Have New Material
I got it and loved it. I like many loved and still today love "The Madding Crowd" (TMC) and one day I did a search on web and found Wiki - that led me to their website and I couldn't believe that an album as honest and wonderful as "So Unhappily Unsatisfied" was available for free download and this was the TREMENDOUS follow up to TMC. I just wonder why they didn't stay with a major label - maybe the pressures may have changed them as a band or they would have been the typical, made a few great albums and split.
We need them back as they make quality music (and it looks like they are coming back for the better), for example: Favourite Song, The In Crowd (from their album "17 minutes and 33 seconds in the dark"), Lost You, the fun Mexico, their Springsteen influenced Long Hard Road and Shoes on the Bed & 7 Windsor Ct, again their rocking ability really shines in Don't Look Back, Ocean is MAGNIFICENT with the lyric "Love what you've got" - Beautiful, Marvellous, Good Friend, Things We Said, they even give Ryan Adams a good run for his money as Nine Days do the songs such as Nine Days of Rain and Behind An Old Blue Vase, Wonder and See You In A Crowd, and She Won't Get Away that Ryan Adam is probably dying to achieve success in still and failing miserably. Bugger the tired out Lenny Kravitz who has lost the plot - these guys from Long Island are FIRST CLASS MUSICIANS and UNDER-RATED in a major way - its so wrong to deprive this band with AMAZING talent.
They still have that catchy hook driven approach that they used on Absolutely (Story of A Girl) and you can hear that on Lee Lee ("where you are Lee Lee. . . These feelings I have don't grow on trees anymore").
The one thing that I was down about was that my X-Girlfriend has my copy of my TMC copy for a minute there I thought about getting back together with her just so I could get my CD back but then that there is another ball of wax and I just went to the CD shop and happily paid $16 for a new copy as Nine Days music is WORTH paying for. I will download and pay for "Slow Motion Life Pt 1" soon as I was trying to buy a copy from their website and I could not find it there but believe it is on Amazon. com somewhere.

Actually their fourth album...
This album is very mainstream and pop(py) at times but shouldn't take away from the fact that these guys are top-flight musicians and interesting songwriters who had been playing together 5 years before this record ever came out. But it was their major label debut. They are more than the throwaway pop that some of the reviews seem to indicate on here. I'm just a really big fan of ninedays and they are currently touring behind a new record (Slow Motion life Pt. 1) and if you get a chance to see them live you should really take it, impessive live act. All six of their other records are available at their official web sites. Please buy all means, if you liked this record at all and are even a little interested in some of their other work (much of it vastly different than what you hear on this album) check them out:

Great music still to be had from them and they are a great bunch of guys who got shafted by
Sony after they wouldn't release their second album since it wasn't as "radio friendly" as this one. It is availabe (for free no less) at (. . . )
Thanks for listening :-).
A flash in the pan...but a good disc, nonetheless
The song became an instant success. Nine Days is most known for their pop smash "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" from 2000. But, just like that, Nine Days was pretty much off in the sunset. In the end, you could say they were popular for. . . NINE DAYS!!!
All joking aside, this is a very solid disc for those that don't like the "bubble-gum" pop, but are not into the heavier rock, as well. After "Absolutely", they released "If I Am", which was a modest hit, but simply couldn't match the fanfare from their debut single. After owning the disc for several years, it's still a good disc to jam to on a sunny afternoon with nothing else to do. Other notable songs include "257 Weeks", "Crazy", and "Revolve".
I believe they released a sophomore album in 2002, but don't quote me on it because I don't know much else about that. I highly doubt they will emerge out of nowhere to release a "come-back" album, so fans of the band will have to rely on the memories that this effort generates.
