One of only a handful of albums I'd give five stars.
It's revolutionary in more ways than one, have some of the best production of any album ever made, and still sounds great after fifteen years. This album, simply put, is one of the best out there. The albums tone ranges from the heavy, psychotic rant "big man with a gun" to a smooth, catchy sex jam "closer" to one of the saddest, most beautiful songs ever written "Hurt"
One thing this album shows that many others don't is just what music is capable of, how many different emotions it can express, often all in one song.
I don't mean to sound preachy, this is really just one of those albums that deserves to be listened to. If you haven't already, give it a chance.


1994 Nine Inch Nails
Worth checking out, if you haven't already. Nine Inch Nails, manages to break new ground with The Downward Spiral, a somewhat dark album, with interesting sounds and textures.

Brings back memories of the old days! One of the best CD's ever from NIN! .


A masterpiece
It is the story of a man, a sick, twisted induvidual drived by sex, drugs and violence. 'The Downward Spiral' is NIN's best-known and most popular album. Each song represents one of his feelings, and as the album progresses, he becomes sadder, sicker and, in his mind, more worthless. The final song, 'Hurt,' is beautiful and can be interpreted in two different ways. 'The Downward Spiral' is not for the faint of heart, but I seriously reccomend it.
