Amazing
I bought it after already owning Recoil, To the Pain, and Vengeance. This cd is great. This is more melodic than those, but that only helps the cd rock harder. Standouts: Development, Your Signs, Normal Days, My Own Sake, and Hands.
Get it! .

great cd from nonpoint
this was actually the latest cd i got from them. im a big nonpoint fan and i have all thier cds except statement(the first cd) and this one is solid just like all the other ones. i already had the 3 newer cds before i decided to buy this one and it was a good thing i did. at first i didnt care for it but after a couple of listens i started to really like it. elias's vocals are really good on most of the songs and the guitars and drums go well with his singing. my favorite song is own sake but other good ones are development your signs and hide and seek. nonpoint is one of the only bands that i buy their cds right off even if i dont know any songs on it cause i know that nonpoint makes solid cd after cd and they have yet to let me down. great job guys.

What happened?????!!
I was expecting something awesome here and it just didnt do it. This album really let me down. Dont get me wrong I am a huge Nonpoint fan. The cd does have some cool tracks on it. The import has 2 extra tracks on it, but Evil Walls is the better of the two. Overall this cd is cool but (in my opinion) there are better Nonpoint albums out there like Statement, and Recoil, and To the pain.

Nonpoint begin to Develop as a band
And despite having only one album out, the band then continued to spend extensive time on the road with some pretty big names (such acts as Sevendust, Staind, and Linkin Park), before stepping back into the studio in 2002. This Florida four-piece emerged with 2000's "Statement," a very exceptional nu-metal album which had a lot more grit, hooks, raw aggression, true emotion, and character than most of the releases at its time.

"Development" is a great way to describe Nonpoint's second album, because while the music isn't a big step forward from their debut, it's still a great progression for the band. Granted, some of these songs (i. e. "Excessive Reaction" and "Get Inside") will get your blood pumping, but most of this album isn't the same way. The rhythms are still pretty heavy, but frontman Elias Soriano no longer contributes to the band's energy with Zach de la Rocha-style raps and screams. Surprisingly, Elias shows off a impressively limpid, docile, soaring vocal style and thus comes across as a very mature and diverse singer. In turn, these limpid vocals keep most of the songs (see "Normal Days" and "My Own Sake") fairly melodic and restrained. "Development" may be less raw and intense, but the songs aren't anywhere near being watered down. Instead, the melodic edge helps to give Nonpoint's sound more depth, and it also helped the band to escape the nu-metal label so they could stay around after that genre's collapse.

"Your Signs" is Nonpoint's first ever hit single, and its incredible hooks, wonderfully infectious chorus, churning riffs, crunchy and simultaneously melodic rhythm, and almost intoxicating vocals make it an obvious high point of the album. The rest of the album may not be as immediately memorable or infectious, but the tunes are still brimming with potential. "Hide And Seek" is also ultra-catchy, and the title track is a superbly energetic door opener which offsets throbbing, blistering guitars with more clean singing. Elsewhere, bassist KB rumbles from beneath the mix on such tracks as "Circles," "Hands," and "Any Advice," and the closing "Mint," which has fiery, punching riffs and melodic breakdowns, is another big highlight.

Second albums are always important and frequently tricky times in a band's career, and some groups can't handle such pressure, so there are a lot of "sophomore slumps. " It may initially appear that "Development" isn't a very good album, but in actuality, it is. There's still plenty of heavy parts to keep old-school fans from severing ties with the band, but overall this is a great development and an ideal stepping stone (or evolution) for Nonpoint. It's not a "sell out album" by any means, it's just more accessible and easier to digest.

Seriously underrated
The fact that Nonpoint never achieved the success of those groups is unfair, because this album rocks, and rocks hard. This is an exceptional cd that can certainly compete with anything System of a Down, Disturbed, Chevelle, or any other alternative metal band has put out. Song after song is both bruisingly heavy yet pleasingly melodic, with catchy, memorable hooks to boot - these guys do it right. Only the clumsily mediocre "mountains" lessens the fun. Their songs are lean and tight and they are talented musicians too, in particular the guitar player, check out the monstrous riffage of "circles" if you don't believe me. Add muscular production complete with room shaking bass and you have one great cd, good to crank after a hard day at work, definitely one of the upper echelon cds in my collection.
