Live & Kicking (Your Teeth In!) I was flipping through the tv channels & I don't remember if was a movie or a tv show, but what caught my attention was I heard this really cool version of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight", which happens to be on Nonpoint's "Recoil" album. The way I actually discovered Nonpoint is that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was really amazed at how good it sounded & thought that whomever it was, that it sounded really original because "they" had made it heavy sounding & put their own twist on it. I think I waited until they showed the credits at the end to see who it was. I saw the name Nonpoint & bam!, the rest is history.
I went online & checked out their music & was captured by their sound. I was pleasantly surprised, (being a metalhead), to find out that they are much heavier than I expected. They have a few songs like, "Past It All", that are more melodic than most of their songs yet still heavy. Then of course, you have, "Mindtrip", "Bullet With A Name", "Explain Myself?", "Back Off", & "Hands Off", that are great to bang your head & mosh to.
I find it hard to really compare them to anyone else because they have such an original sound. They are a brand all of their own.
All of that being said, I CAN tell you that this CD/DVD will knock you on your butt! They put on one hell of a live show & sound excellent! They might not be one of these super famous, highly paid bands, but they deserve to be! They really get the crowd pumping & sound fantastic! It's everything that you would expect from Nonpoint.
If you aren't familiar with Nonpoint, you should get yourself aquainted with one of their studio albums first. You've got, "Recoil", "To The Pain", & "Statement", just to mention a few. It's definitely crank up the stereo to eleven & turn up the bass music!
Those of you that are familiar with Nonpoint, GET THIS CD/DVD! You WON'T be disappointed. They live up to their expectations & more. I have my stereo preset to a certain setting just for this concert, (with the bass tweeked a little more than I usually do). Ha! I love it! Bang your head to this concert people! It's a 5!
Always remember, in the words of Albert Schweitzer, "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: Music & Cats". So true!
Rock On & Horns Up! \m/.
Good Stuff/ Great Package
5. This CD itself is a 3. But the fact that they give the full concert on DVD as well makes this a great value. I just wish the recording of the show was a little better sounding audio wise.
The show is energetic, the songs rock and the DVD is worth the 15 bucks itself, so i look at the CD as a bonus. . A no brainer for fans of the band. If new to them i would get 'Recoil' and 'Statement' first. .
A good homage to one of the hardest working bands out there. . looking forward to the follow up to 'To The Pain'.
Amazing
Now, I can watch the same great show anytime I want :]. I was there when this dvd/cd was recorded, and it was great at the time.
Great band Great Concert
I love Nonpoint and I have seen them before live and it was just as good as this. . . They put on a good show everytime. The dvd/cd combo is a great touch and it is always great to be able to see what you are listening to.
No real new stuff is on this, and I would say for me the high-lite :) is the "Past it all" performance on the CD side and the acoustic performance of "Bullet with a Name" on the dvd said. Those are two songs that are played a bit different then normal.
If you are a fan of Nonpoint then you will enjoy this cd/dvd! .
Nonpoint rules
The sound quality on both the cd and dvd are great and the setlist is a good variety of the bands catalog. If you are a longtime hardcore nonpoint fan or just someone new getting into the band this is the perfect album for either taste. The only thing I can't figure out is why "What A Day" is on the cd but not on the dvd, but other than that this package is great and well worth the price to rock.
